  • First Belief: Porn Stars are different than prostitutes because we pay taxes, it's on camera, in front of the world, and not in some dark scary alley. It's different because the person I am being paid to have sex with is being paid to have sex with me too. There are conventions that welcome me, such as the AVN Expo in Vegas, whereas there are no conventions (with fans) for prostitutes. Therefore, I am not a prostitute.

Second Belief: My participation in pornography doesn't hurt anybody, not even me.

Third Belief: My parents should be proud of me for being such a successful woman in this male-driven business.

Fourth Belief: Using my sexuality to obtain money, respect and success is empowering.

Fifth Belief: Doing this temporarily will take me somewhere better permanently.

When I quit, and started going to therapy, I had to deconstruct each of these beliefs, as they'd become so ingrained in my way of thinking they had taken over my way of living.

First Truth: There really is no difference between being a Porn Star and being a prostitute. One is a bit safer than the other and tested for STD's, but for the most part they are the same. In fact, the majority of Porn Stars sideline as prostitutes, or "Escorts," although they will deny it vehemently.

Second Truth: My participation in pornography, while accepted by my family (I was honest from the beginning), still broke the hearts of those who love me. My Mom and Dad had wanted more for me than selling sex. My little brother had to deal with kids at school who made fun of him because his sister was a whore. My little sister, who once looked up to me, thought I was taking the easy way out. And as mentioned, I've been in therapy for the past year and a half trying to rehabilitate myself from the damages both I, and my participation in pornography, caused. To say "selling sex for money won't harm you" is to say seismic activity today, won't cause tidal waves hundreds of miles away tomorrow.

Third Truth: My parents are proud of me no matter what I do. But they knew I could do more.

Fourth Truth: Using my sexuality to be financially stable, respected and successful is not empowering. It is manipulative and the same as sleeping with your boss to get a raise. I am a hustler and a master manipulator. Going back to school is empowering because I am creating a sustainable future with my mind, not my vagina.

Fifth Truth: Doing porn temporarily will dig you deeper down the pornographic hole. When and if women are lucky enough to climb out, they will need tons of therapy to understand why they choose to prostitute themselves for mere peanuts. And if they don't get that kind of help, it is my personal opinion they will be faced with challenges in their intimate and social lives, daily.

    • QUOTES BY FORMER PORNOGRAPHY PERFORMERS ABOUT THE HARMS OF PORNOGRAPHY: Jessie Jewels: "People in the porn industry are numb to real life and are like zombies walking around. The abuse that goes on in this industry is completely ridiculous. The way these young ladies are treated is totally sick and brainwashing. I left due to the trauma I experienced even though I was there only a short time." Genevieve:"I had bodily fluids all over my face that had to stay on my face for ten minutes. The abuse and degradation was rough. I sweated and was in deep pain. On top of the horrifying experience, my whole body ached, and I was irritable the whole day. The director didn't really care how I feltt; he only wanted to finish the video." Roxy (Shelley): "They told me if had my AIDS test that I'd be safe. I arrived on the set with my test and did a hardcore scene with two men. Within that week I was very sick with a fever of 104 and blisters all over my mouth, throat and private area. I looked like a monster. The doctor told me I had Genital Herpes. I wanted to die."

    • Neesa: "The truth is I let my lifestyle get the best of me. I hate life. I'm a mess. A disaster. I've attempted suicide many times." Jersey Jaxin: "Guys punching you in the face. You have semen from many guys all over your face, in your eyes. You get ripped. Your insides can come out of you. It's never ending." Nadia Styles: "I found out 2 days later that I had caught gonorrhea in my first scene! As quick as that the glamour of being a porn star was gone. In the five years I was shooting I caught Gonorrhea and Chlamydia many times. Sometimes both at the same time about every 3-5 months." Tamra Toryn: "As for myself, I ended up paying the price from working in the porn industry. In 2006, not even 9 months in, I caught a moderate form of dysplasia of the cervix (which is a form of HPV, a sexually transmitted disease) and later that day, I also found out I was pregnant. I had only 1 choice which was to abort the baby during my first month. It was extremely painful emotionally and physically. When it was all over, I cried my eyes out." Sierra Sinn: "My first scene was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was very scary. It was a very rough scene. My agent didn't let me know ahead of time... I did it and I was crying and they didn't stop. It was really violent. He was hitting me. It hurt. It scared me more than anything. They wouldn't stop. They just kept rolling." "Drugs are huge. They're using viagra. It's unnatural. The girls will be on xanax and vicodin."

    • Elizabeth Rollings: "I didn't want to feel the pain of penetration from an over average sized man, being told to freeze in a position until the camera man was happy with his shots was very painful. I had peoples body fluids forced on my face or anywhere else the producer pleased and I had to accept it or else no pay. Sometimes you would get to a gig and the producer would change what the scene was supposed to be to something more intense and again if you didn't like it, too bad, you did it or no pay."
Crissy Moran: "I went through more heartbreaks and became suicidal. I was taken to the hospital for panic attacks. I tried to overdose on xanax, strangle myself, and cut my wrists but not nearly deep enough. I was too scared of the pain."
Becca Brat: "I hung out with a lot of people in the Adult industry, everybody from contract girls to gonzo actresses. Everybody has the same problems. Everybody is on drugs. It's an empty lifestyle trying to fill up a void." "I became horribly addicted to heroin and crack. I overdosed at least 3 times, had tricks pull knives on me, have been beaten half to death."

  • No one can convince me that all porn stars are horny 24/7 and 100% passionate about what they do. We've all seen a porn star overacting ane looking unsatisfied at least once. They're workers and have to sell pleasure, but there must be times they're just phoning it in for the cash. Also, getting stuck with another porn star you dislike or find attractive has to add to the level acting they've gotta do.

    • If so, I really find them great actors, they can perfectly do their roles

    • What if they're nymphomaniacs or had high sex drives and libidos

    • I'm not denying that's a thing. I just don't believe every porn star is a nymphomaniac.

  • Different answers for different porn stars.

There are women who are absolutely in it just for the money, and who are definitely acting virtually all the time. These women don't often have long careers, and that's often by their own choice - they make enough to pay for college or buy a house or whatever, and they quit. But they also tend not to get as popular with viewers.

There are other women who are into it for the money, but also often (but not always) enjoy the sex.

And there are women who LOVE the sex and who continue to have long porn careers. One of the reasons that the "MILF" and "HotWife" genres exist is because there were porn stars who started in their early 20s and loved doing porn - even after making enough money to retire - that they wanted to keep going, but they'd aged out of mainstream porn. They could have moved into directing or writing or some other aspect of production, but they wanted to still have sex on camera, and so the studios invented genres to give justification for older stars working with younger ones, which allowed the older stars to keep working.

Hell, Debi Diamond was a porn star who started in the mid/late 80s, and she's STILL working today, 35 years later. Nina Hartley had a super long career as well, though she's retired from porn (she still does BDSM stuff and sex ed and gives interviews, etc.).

But, yeah, there's a range of opinions. As a rule, the ones who don't really enjoy it don't stay for long, and the ones who DO enjoy it are likely to have longer careers, by choice.

    • Thanks for the nice answer 👍👍👍

    • It seems the ones who don't enjoy it are either A) Given a broad forum for them to express their negative opinions B) Are more vocal about it -or- C) Actually outnumber those who enjoy it. Either way, those who don't like it seem to have had positively horrible experiences.

    • There have always been a few producers who were known to be rough or disrespectful. They tended to pay more for scenes, and even if they didn't, many women like those scenes - but others would take those jobs just for the big paycheck, in most case knowing full well what that meant - and then complained afterwards. How many refused the scene and walked away? The reality is that they COULD have, but chose not to, because they wanted the money. Many of them essentially admit that. The thing is, these are women making $1000+ per scene, so if they passed on a scene, it's not like they wouldn't eat. Even if they had to book 2 masturbation or girl-girl scenes instead of one rough boy-girl scene to get the same money, they could easily do so. Men to dangerous, even potentially deadly jobs because they pay well, and we don't talk a lot about the dangers, but we all know they exist. Men in mining or construction or even athletes routinely get horrifically injured and often have dramatically shorter lifespans due to their jobs - but they took those jobs by choice. I don't see a lot of difference here. And if those bad-actor producers can't get girls because they're too rough or too disrespectful, they'd be forced to change. As for the women complaining about cum on their face? It's PORN. That's literally the standard. That would be like a miner complaining about having to work underground. Well DUH!

  • A vast majority of them are acting.

I'm a former porn addict, and as someone who watched at least 1,000 porn scenes, I can tell you almost all of them are over-dramatic, and faking it.

I watched a documentary on pornography once, and ironically, porn stars who have significant others are actually less enthusiastic about having sex with their significant others, because it reminds them of work, and they don't find anything pleasurable about sex anymore. Pornography can also be sexual abuse, even if the women agree to perform in it.

  • I'm sure they still feel something even though it's quite "routine" for them to have intercourse. They're simply exaggerating what they feel to add more appeal.

  • I think it is about as "REAL" as WWF Wrestling!! :)
He's hard because of viagra, and she knows how to fake it, right?

  • Similar to how it with other jobs, some people enjoy their jobs, others don't. They are technically actors so it's harder to tell if they really enjoy it or they just acting, that said porn stars are usually not skilled at acting, as can be seen in their non-sex scenes, so if a porn stars is not into it at all, you would likely be able to tell if you pay attention. Saying that women are unable to enjoy casual sex is bullshit, as many women are having casual sex, even women who are technically not sex workers, but that said not all women are into casual sex.

  • I’m gonna guess it’s acting most of the time

  • They're acting.

  • A bit of both and more.

Though interviews from the pink cross foundation hint there is a lot more seedy and unregulated about the industry.

Many either commit suicide, or fall into a life of addiction and problems.

  • most of the time they are acting. however people who join the porn industry. tend to have high sex drives then most. or just enjoy sex with different people to some degree. but unlikely they are always horny 24/7/365. there is also much behind the sense things they tend not to show. because while the clip might be short they tend. to film 3 or 4 times that much footage to edit out things here and there.

  • Yep, it’s fake, just like their bodies

    • Not all of them are fake, many of them are natural

    • Keep on believing that

    • No I know most of them have fake boobs or ass, but I can differentiate

  • I'm sure that it is like any other job in the respect that sometimes you have to DOD what you gotta do and fake it, and sometimes I'm sure the sex feels great and everything is good.

  • I'd say for the most part they are but I'm sure there's times when they enjoy it maybe some of them enjoy it all the time

  • Lot of it is acting, I'm sure they can go midway to the cameraguy or director like "we gotta do this, like this? Alright okay" and they go at it again

  • It's just a job

  • As a former actor, they're acting. It's a business and it's about money.

  • No mostly they are just doing their jobs

  • It can be both tbh

Again it depends on the person

    • Agree

  • Well obviously a lot of the girls are exaggerating their pleasure, but a lot of those women do genuinely enjoy what they do.

  • most porn is 100% fake. from the tits to the orgasms. but not all porn is like that. however finding porn that is not like that is sort of tricky.

  • Not only are they acting but it's poor acting lol

  • some are , you can tell by their faces,, but id like to find out

  • Terrible acting but the sex is good
