Superb Opinion

  • Stigma means a negative mentality based on stereotypes more than anything else. So it's a sort of fictional ideology.

STDs don't have a stigma. It's fact. They are contagious, even life-threatening, diseases. They are not nice.

And the typical 9.5 out of 10 chance of getting an STD is unprotected sex which is another fact. Irresponsible people have unprotected sex. That is yet another fact.

So it's not a stigma. It's fact. If someone has an STD they likely were irresponsible & had unprotected sex with someone they barely know.

    • Inconvenient truth

  • Who wants the flu? Who wants to think that there could be something growing in your sexy bits? I guess it's hard because a lot of people that get STD's get them from someone else who wasn't being honest, but I mean really, most people would avoid it unless they already had a stake in a particular person.

Most Helpful Guys

  • I could care less if there is a stigma.. If someone has an STD i have zero interest in them.. They actually decriminalized the willful spreading of HIV in California..

So for example, one person has sex with another, that person has HIV the other person does not, and does not know, They opt to have unprotected sex. Suddenly the person that did have HIV has given the other person what amounts to a death sentence.. STD's would go away if people were freaking responsible

  • Well if your in a committed relationship and come home with some sort of STD then the odds are you've been cheating

  • If someone gets the flu we don't judge them for it. Stds are battle scars you wear with pride, they prove your attractive enough to find partners.

  • Because they are unhealthy and some of them can kill you.

  • They’re literally contagious diseases.

  • Of course.

  • Because some of that stuff can kill you and some of it can't be treated. Even the stuff that's treatable can cause permanent health problems.

  • Stigmas exist because things are bad the stigmas do not make them bad.

  • Because nobody wants a lifelong disease

  • Because they can be detrimental to your health and who wants that

  • I think it's because STDs are still associated with people who have multiple partners and that's not always the case.

  • Nobody taught anyone how to have a civil and mature conversation about anything regarding sex, especially not STDs. If things can't be talked about because they're taboo, that's one really easy way to create a stigma.

  • Because no one wants to sleep with them for obvious reasons. Keeping it inside their pants is better than hiding while spreading the infection, or just visit the doctor, is really not that hard.

  • because people don't want stds

  • because you get it by not being careful and responsible.

  • It’s a disease that’s what happens when you sleep around too much

    • Your partner can avoid telling you because of this opinion

    • Then shame on him or her

    • What’s shameful is the stigma. It’s shameful because it causes more partners to hide them

  • Because any disease make life uncomfortable And cure is hard to find often

  • I think it's to do with having to explain why they have an STD and also the fact that a potential new partner will reject them of they know they have one.

  • Because there are people who like to judge and try to shame those with an illness without caring about the person themselves.

  • Because it's usually whores and broken people who don't value physical intimacy who have them. It's not hard to understand.

  • STDs can be life threatening.

  • Im not understanding why someone would hide some stds. Most go away with antibiotics lol it can't spread to anyone else but aids n hiv fuck all that stay away from me if you infected
