Should we outlaw male masturbation?

In Philosophy, teleology or the purpose of life or the building blocks of life can be argued to have been set in motion by a creative force. We call this God. Given that nature exists in a particular form and has been designed by an intelligent creative God, to counteract the teleology of our bodies would be to commit a necessarily unnatural act. And if that which is unnatural to God should be considered counter to his plan and counter to the good Christian plan for life, I believe that the spilling of seed for recreational purposes be banned.

Given that men will not agree to this, I also declare that the Supreme Court be filled with good Christian women over the next several decades, to ensure that the will and plan of God be allowed to continue unrestricted. There is no reason to allow men on the court.

  • This was actually a common belief in Abrahamic religions historically, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't outlawed. Sometimes people were committed to mental institutions for that reason, though.

    • Hey editor person, is there a reason why my question was put in the Sexuality section instead of the Politics section? I wanted to upset bigots, not perverts. Also no I didn't know that but I believe it.

    • To clarify, I did select the politics category when submitting the question.

  • There is no evidence that life was set in motion by a creative force. In fact and I mean fact, there is evidence that life as come to the point it is due to evolution by natural selection and that was set in motion by blind chemistry. You basically come across as an evangelistic nut job which ironic since your question is about forcing men to abstain from masturbation.
I could even argue against you using your own logic. Not masturbating increases the risk of prostate cancer and in some cases can even lead to urethral stricture. So if men don't masturbate, they don't live long enough to procreate to their full potential.

    • God made evolution, and evolution is designed to further the species. That's why being gay is wrong. Gay penguins know they're sinning and don't care at all. That's why I'm trying to kill them all before penguin sperm is spilled in penguin anuses.

    • You have absolutely no reference to use for your claim that "god made evolution". You probably wear silk underpants and silk comes from the butts of Chinese worms.

    • I don't wear underpants. I'm afraid of the fabric brushing my private area and experiencing physical pleasure.

  • I consider the Judeo Christian Bible the only source. It is MUTE on masturbation. So pardon me while I look for the Aloe Vera lotion.

  • I would like to see how this would be policed

    • I've been thinking that it would be good to have a Catholic priest policing the bed of every little boy to ensure that sexual activity does not occur that could spill seed. This both a) ensures that men of God are capable of interfering in cases where seed may be spread and b) allows these men of God to sneak a quickie in cases where seed cannot be produced.

    • I think they do that any way...

  • Even if anyone agrees with you, you won't be able to enforce this.

  • Well if God is God then doubt anyone can restrict him if he wants to do something who can tell him no?

  • Firstly, how could you show that your point is correct? How can you argue for the existence of this “creative force” or the existence of a “life purpose” or the claim that this “creative force” set in motion this “life purpose”. A lot of assumptions you have made just from your first statement, and it’s quite a leap. Furthermore, you have not justified why it is wrong to “spill the seed”. You have not demonstrated an ought, not one that would convince many people. Given everything you said is true, is spilling your seed wrong independent of god and god made that rule based off of something other than what he wills, or is spilling your seed wrong because god says it’s wrong and what is right or wrong is defined to be whatever he says? If it is the latter, I am afraid then that right and wrong would be arbitrary labels. What would make rightness and wrongness a quality we ought to aspire? Surely if one were to take this Divine command theory to be true, one would not answer what someone ought to do.

In either case, there is a much more general problem. The is ought problem. Given all facts possible (that is all descriptive statements), how do you derive a normative statement (statements regarding value)? For if ”spilling your seed” is an unnatural act, then why is that necessarily bad? In fact, many things could be argued to be unnatural. If we were to try to be natural, life expectancy would rarely surpass 40 years, a quality of life many people would consider bad.

Secondly, there is the more practical issue, it is that imposing these law would violate the separation of church and state, one of the safeguards against tyranny. Not to mention, what is the job of the state have to do with spilling your seed? It has not been demonstrated to harm anyone, and victimless in its action.

    • I was trolling. I don't believe any of what I wrote.

    • Lmao. He bit hard

  • Yeah periods too.

    • The number "3" is superior to the number "2".

  • I know you're trolling but with Darth Orange as POTUS we won't get another female justice

  • You are reason Christianity is so harmful. Stop hating yourself for masturbating. Apes do it.

  • This is an absolutely ridiculous question and even worse a ridiculous argument that is not worth even answering

  • Lost me at "God." No, we shouldn't outlaw anything based on fairy tales and superstition. I don't care how much you love your imaginary friend, it is completely unreasonable to expect the rest of the world to pretend Santa Claus is real to make you happy. Stop it.

    • I believe all laws should be founded on a limited and very narrowly specific view of one person who believes in one interpretation if the bible. That way, we all benefit.

  • Probably not because your argument is missing a lot of steps. For example, how to get from the general concept of teleology to the creative force being the Christian God.

    • Because Bible.

    • Why not Quran? Or Torah? Or Vedas? Or Guru Granth Sahib?

    • When I'm at church, my body tingles and I feel warm. That's why the bible is the best book. It's airtight logic my man.
