Do you look and compare?

How much have you and do you check out the bodies of other people of the same sex and compare your body with theirs?

I'm constantly at the gym, in the locker room, at the mall, and school checking out other girls and comparing my height, weight, hips, curves, tits, and everything else I see to my own.

I always feel like my body is just as good and usually better.

  • Yeah I constantly do that sometimes I feel like it's better, sometimes theirs is better. But I think they all look pretty in their own way I guess.

  • All the time. Especially if I see a woman that looks better than I do, or has a great figure... like you can tell she workouts hard and takes care of her body.

It usually makes me feel worse about my own body 😭
I will think to myself, "Why can't I look that good?" Or, "Wow, she has a nice (insert compliment here)." as I wonder how she got said figure.
But comparing myself to other women actually pushes me to exercise and work harder! Because I want to look as good as they do.

  • This sounds like a recipe for eventual emotional/ego collapse.

I look, but I know that I have assets that are not physical. Beauty is ephemeral. We all age, and have to come to terms with that.
I'm not a competitive person. I only think about being "just as good and [usually[ better" in terms of compassion, morality, communication, etc. External comparisons seem quite pointless to me.

    • I pretty much agree. So many women are beautiful in so many ways. Comparisons are almost useless. I can understand women using the appeal of certain women as an incentive, but even that is overdone. A few women comparing and wishing they were better is crazy when each is already better in some ways. As for aging, one woman I know over fifty looks fantastic, clothed or naked! I would choose her over 90% of the younger women! I am concerned that so many older women on here think they no longer look good. While many younger guys go for the younger women, those of us who are older recognize the beauty regardless of age. Most men do not compare like the women do. But as for looking, I would look at naked women of all ages and enjoy the view.

    • @Red_Arrow Thank you, Arrow. That is really nice to hear. I know that men judge much less harshly. We females grow up with this mindset and it's extremely difficult to counter. Some girls have been treated poorly by their men/lovers. I haven't. Aside from a few things here and there, I now feel in retrospect, one thing I never felt was sexually or physically criticized. Yet, we do it to ourselves. I am reading a book right now, written by a male sex therapist, 'Passionista: The Empowered Woman's Guide to Pleasuring a Man.' It's interesting to read about the differences in how men and women view sex. For one thing, sex is seen as a performance to males. They 'perform', as if with a bird's eye view looking down on themselves, and have a sort of internal self-talk, rating if they are doing well. Women, on the other hand, are rating, and worrying, about how they look. 'Am I sexy enough, is my body thin enough, does this angle make me look bad...' etc etc. Yes, we do worry about angles. And lighting. Men have much less concern about their own bodies. Except when it comes to how their member works. Too fast, too slow, not hard enough... apparently these plague a man's psyche. But back to your point - it is nice to be appreciated, by whatever age. Men do tend to value youth more than wisdom etc in their women. They also see it as less baggage. I disagree with agreeableness, ha ha. Sycophants, anyone? But I seem to manage to find the ones who are not superficial, and have a good head on their shoulders. Still, that inner voice of questioning will probably never go away fully. Unless in the throws of complete abandon. And that is what I aim for. That is a blissful place to be, is it not?

  • I may be wrong but I feel like, because our culture has put so much emphasis on women's appearance and because men are genetically programmed to be aroused by what we see, women are much more prone to those comparisons generally.

  • Yeah when me and my friends get changed infront of each other we don't pretend we're not looking at each other when we're naked 😂 wbu?

  • As a guy. I think we do compared but it's not normally about the same things or as much/often..

Personally it's just about like... If he has abs or a nice face. And I mean there's always the "is his cock bigger?" But for the most part I feel like guys are more likely to judge on the lower end... Like making fun or teasing those they think are less attractive. But there are guys in the fitness scene that can apretiate more about the mail body

  • Meh, i dont. Im tiny (5ft 2in and 87 pounds) i know if i did that all the time the only thing id see is chicks with more meat on their bones lol.

    • Good things come in small packages. How old are you.

  • All the time

  • not every possible partner looks for the same physical requirements. so just embrace what you have and try to find a way to be happy with how you currently look. or have a plan on how you want to look and work on getting to that point.

  • I do it to help keep myself in check to keep my tone and motivation. I don't compare to be better than them. I. compare to be better for myself
