I’m planning to report a rapist to the police. I know who he is and he assaulted me multiple times. Can you give me advices, please?

The sexual assaults happened abroad. I have shared my stories multiple times on the forum but anonymously. I feel ashamed but I feel terrible at the same time.

After rape I bled so intensively that my blood got on the carpet which the rapist removed quickly. Question 1) can the police find my blood on it?
does anyone know the law of Turkey about rape? And I had been taken to an industry place where also a sexual assault took place again.. are there also cameras there? I have not been out of the car because he didn’t allow me. :( plus there were drunken people everywhere.
Also his mom is aware of this because she wanted her son to marry me:( and it’s family:( so basically this is incest. - sorry ladies and gentlemen for this info. Can this info get the aunt and her son punished too? Because I was not allowed to go back to my own country - I played well to get back home again. I lied that I would return and get legal papers to get married :( it was soo bad to act this way but I had no other choice because they also own a gun - which is dark grey/ black with a brown handle.

People, I hope you don’t mind me sharing this. I need your help! Thank you already.

PS. The suspect also forced me to have sex in his house which I declined all the time. I couldn’t breathe because he lay on me. I cried but he close my mouth with his hand.
when I was somewhere else, he pulled me to his room but before I was holding the doors, walls and furnitures to restrain him. But he managed to pull me anyway :( he also filmed me but the videos were removed I believe - he used whatsapp.

Superb Opinion

  • I'm far from an expert on what the laws are in Turkey, but I have a feeling that you aren't going to get very far there, and if you ever return there, things could potentially go badly for you. Obviously this rape is reprehensible and I'd love to see this guy punished harshly, but Turkey is not a western country, and the rules are much different there.

Also, with ANY rape case, if you don't (or can't, as might have been the case for you) report this immediately, when there is physical evidence that can be immediately collected, it makes a prosecution nearly impossible. Even if the location had cameras, and even if they were pointed in the right direction, typically those recordings are only around for 1-4 weeks before they are overwritten.

If this was in a western country, I'd say "report it anyway" if, for no other reason, to establish a paper trail on the guy. But given that this is Turkey, all bets are off, and you could be putting yourself further at risk (should you ever go back there) if you report him. He could be protected by people in the government, or it may be that they just don't take this kind of thing seriously there, especially without direct evidence. I recommend you get on Google and do some research and see what other women there have to say and find out what their experiences were.

For people who have only lived in western countries, I cannot stress enough that other places in the world are NOT the west, and canNOT be assumed to have the same laws and protections that we do. Turkey isn't the worst country in the world by far, but it's also not the west, and the difference are serious, and you need to be aware of those things before traveling outside western countries.

  • Based on what I have read here, your attempted efforts to seek justice will NOT be served. You don't say how long ago these rapes occurred, but I STRONGLY DOUBT any charges will or can be laid against your perpetrator at this point. You may want to pursue this, but my best advice would be to focus your energies on your own healing instead, because justice will never be served.

    • It happened this year

    • You are very negative by the way

    • I really got angry with your message. Wtf? You doubt about it? How can rapist get away all the time? Its time for justice. Seriously. If nobody doez anything rapists can keep messing so many people!!

  • To be honest even if there were cameras they might not have even been working and if they weren’t they wouldn’t have captured anything unfortunately

when it comes to the blood it is possible they can still find blood in the carpet because blood can soak deep into things especially if it’s not cleaned up right away

I strongly feel you would have had a better chance of having the guy arrested and punished if you called the Police right away because there would have been physical evidence on your body proving a rape had occurred however this doesn’t mean he won’t get punished for the crime he has committed

    • After clicking on the link someone posted and reading the report I sadly don’t think anything is gonna happen to this monster cause that country seems to think rape is okay if you are gonna marry that person

  • Have evidence or at least someone to corroborate your story, otherwise it’s unlikely that anything will be done.

  • You bled, you was virgin? as for the law in Turkey, well Erdogan is an islamist.

    • Bleeding doesn’t always mean you are a virgin

    • It has nothing to do with virginity. The blood was intense. It bled for 2 days :(

    • Sir, i won't marry this asshole. He is a rapist. Plus this crime is committed against a foreigner. How about the rights of Turkish women? I heard this before that marriage is the solution BUT Why the HELL should a woman get punished for this but not the rapist himself? Please, hopefully Erdogan can understand women. He also has daughters. I hope he stands with us.
