Do you think it should be forbidden to let 18-21 years old teenies to make porn (since their brain are not fully developed at this age)?

At the age of 18 you are still very young to make such big irreversibel decisions, especially when your brain is developing till you are 25. I have heard of cases where 17 years old girls get approached by agencies that end up being porn stars then. Come on, why is it even legal to make porn of teenies.

I have the feeling many young people dont know the dark sides of porn industry where abuse, drug addiction, etc happen. I also dont like how much violent, rapey and brutal porn become.

Disgusting how mainly men said no. Just because they are legally adult, does not mean it makes it ok. You are not suddenly adult/mature when you are 18 but day before 17. Women can't get sterilisation before their 25s-30s in many states but doing porn just for male pleasure is ok? What a sick world. Also drinking age is 21 but doing porn at 18 is ok? I am Not saying we should forbid, people before 21 should not do porn

  • The issue you've raised (regarding the abuses and negative effects of the porn industry) aren't suddenly solved by someone being a little older.

    Given that certain areas of the brain, including the prefrontal region, are not fully innervated or developed until someone is in his/her mid/late 20's to early 30's, I answered no.

    I'm not disagreeing with the points you've mentioned about the porn industry in general, but those are issues best addressed from within rather than by external decree. Keep in mind that it is legal for youth to drive at 16 (earlier with a permit in most areas), which has vary more risks involved (including death).

    • With 18 you have zero adult life but with 21-5 you at least have 3- 6 years adult life aka life experience. The more you age the more information and life experience you have that can protect from such things

  • Well to be consistent I think they would have to raise the age for other things like taking out a loan, buying a house, signing a contract, owning a business, joining military etc. It doesn't make sense to say 18 is old enough to make decisions on all that other stuff but not old enough to agree to have sex for money.

  • OK I have several different problems with your little statement all over the place. Let's make sure we throw a little bit of common sense into what you're saying and make sure we Get the facts straight before you blow this thing all out of proportion.

    · up until you turn 18, means that you have to have another individual claiming responsibility for your actions. This means that you are not held accountable for your actions, and that you must abide by somebody else’s parental guidance. This is maintained in the eyes of state and government laws. Which means, any kind of contract that you sign is considered not legal unless you have another person over the age of 21 signing along with you. ( I will get to the reason why they had to be over 21 in a minute)

    · When you turn 18, this means that any actions you take from this point forward will be of your own doing an you will be responsible for said actions. Yes it may be true that you are not completely educated about everything you need to know, but it does mean no one else will be held responsible for the actions you take. That is why you are allowed to vote, you are allowed to move out away from your parents without their consent, as well as make your own financial decisions ( be held responsible when you sign contracts and making obligations to people) .

    · When you turn 21, this is when you are considered responsible enough to have responsibilities of others. That's why when you got your learners permit to drive a car, it says you're not allowed to be in another car unless a person over the age of 21 is with you. You have taken enough responsibility for yourself during that three years to gain enough experience that you can take somebody else underneath your wings. This is where the alcohol consumption comes into play. Since you are not considered adult enough at 18 to have the responsibility for others, then you are not considered responsible enough if something happens when you're drunk Anne that you cause physical damage to somebody else or in the case of death , responsible enough for somebody elses life.

    Now when it comes to porn, nobody has responsibility but yourself to make your decisions. We can only assume that you're gonna make the right ones. This means then we can only give you the knowledge we have up until 18. After that it's up to you to decide on how you're going to mold your life. After that, anything we say are merely suggestions. We can't even hold your hand unless you say it's OK. So if you truly think that you're not ready for the world by the time you turned 18, then you better pray your parents will still keep you around. If not, sign yourself over to a psychiatric Ward.

According to you, an 18yo is not mature enough to make a conscious decision like doing porn and should be forbidden to do so. That is not only legally, but psychologically wrong.
