Since when does the terminology "GETTING HEAD" or "GIVING HEAD" apply to going 'downtown' on a WOMAN?

It's probably just me, but it catches me off guard when someone refers to oral sex on a woman as anything involving the word 'HEAD' -- as this is obviously not a good adjective (descriptor for that act), nor a noun (physiological descriptor) when trying to describe cunnilingus.
-- Does anyone else find this weird? Did women somehow 'hijack' this term? Are women even responsible for this change in common usage? Has it, or has it not, lost its explicit inference to fellatio?
... What do you think?

  • Quite a few good answers so I'll not repeat.

    Let me try a guess:

In the days when people were religious and "good Christians", many read the Song of Solomon to know how to have sex on their wedding night.

Chapter 4:11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

This verse talks about the husband licking her "(lower) lips" and tasted the vagina juice; amazed at the (little) "tongue" (clitoris) that is associated with sex and babies; and her "garment" (aka coverings, public hair) emitted pheromones when she was high.

This verse shows the "head" imagery.

Perhaps its where the husbands "give head" and his wife "receive head" originated?

    • Woah... that might be a stretch.

  • You are correct. HEAD refers to fellatio, NOT cunnilingus.

  • That changed when the feminists complained about the term "EATING HER OUT".

  • It's certainly not traditional slang for cunnilingus. We'll probably never know how it started. It could be becoming more common as it's short and easier to type when texting.

  • for decades now. not sure when it carried over.
