Obviously, there are many male students who would be happy to get a teacher in bed and give her a fine poking. These guys wouldn't complain and it is unlikely that they are "traumatized" my the experience but it certainly does change how they will remember high school!

One problem is that teachers are in a position of authority over students and, if you condone this behavior, it will allow teachers to use that authority to coerce students who might not otherwise be willing participants in hiding the sausage in teacher.

Another problem is the age of consent. There are boys and girls below the age of consent who eagerly participate in sex, are happy to have the opportunity with someone older who can teach them, and would never complain about the experience. Nonetheless, we criminalize the adult who gets involved with such an underage partner because we reason that the minor is too young to make a well reasoned decision about having sex and their consent to such activities is not well reasoned.

Although it is fun to fantasize about being the young male in such a scenario (Miss Rust, wherever you are, I have always loved you since 7th grade English class and I'd love to see you again! I don't care if you are now 79 years old!), there is simply too much that can go wrong in such situations to condone it at all.

Again, whether or not it will actually lead to abuse of power is more conjecture and bias based towards the belief that it's bad. We can simply make it wrong to abuse power and manipulate others into doing something they don't like. That is, lack of consent is enough to distinguish abuse of power from none.

colleges look the other way as it is an elective education institution,

high schools are not (barring the drop-out situation which negates your scenario anyway). This puts school districts and states at risk of sexual harassment. Many of these laws state there can be no consent between a person of authority and a subordinate. Ie boss employee, teacher student, pastor church member. Therapist patient etc. mix in minor age of consent and you have a scenario built to destroy political careers.

Yes I do have a problem with it. I think it's sexist to be okay with male teenagers doing it but not female teenagers. It's basically saying teen girls can't make their own decisions, but teen boys can.

Personally I'm not okay with either. Teenagers, of either gender, can't consent to sex with adults, of either gender. People say that "the boy loved it" but even if that's true, that's part of the problem. The adult is taking advantage of the teenager's newly raging hormones.

The big thing discussed in this type of topic is age. I’m for punishing statutory rape and sexual assault as rape and assault because minors cannot consent. But that’s debated, and I get that, so let’s move on.

It’s wrong for an authority figure of any age to have sexual relations with someone below them in the power structure. It’s far too easy to take advantage.

What happens if the teacher has to flunk the student? What if the student doesn’t want to have sexual relations anymore but they have a big final coming up? What if one tries to leverage sex or grades over the other.:
