Well, I have done so in August of 1988, well you go apply in person or they can take your case over the phone, now after that, you will get letters most likely will deny your claim but you got to keep appealing to they either want to send you to a hearing also you got to go to doctors, therapist, make sure they have notes on your health condition they will also ask if your currently working or have worked in the past, It's always good to tell them that you can't complete your work and get overwhelmed with it after year September of 1989 they found me eligible to receive benefits after I had a hearing and had a lawyer take my case during the years they will evaluate you to see if your still disabled I just had my case reviewed this past March of 2020

My mom applied for my disability, but school applications are pretty smooth with no trouble, you just need a therapist or psychologist to get you a diagnosis. Ssi office business is usually pretty good but public aid is just about as miserable as the dmv unfortunately and might be even worse than that at times unfortunately

I am collecting benefits right now. I had spinal surgery in August. Hopefully I get the ok to go back to work soon.

i am currently living off them. in sweden, anyone with autism has the right to help by law. as i am NEET, i get a small amount of tax paid money a month (~$450) and municipality provided housing.

I don't know if this counts, but I did apply for monetary help after I failed to graduate from high school because of my ADHD and dyslexia. Didn't end up getting any because according to them, my teachers had done enough to help me. Oh, yeah, the staff that included more than one teacher who didn't even fucking KNOW what dyslexia was had done enough to help me...
