My girlfriend knows about my fetish. My exes knew about it as well. They participated in it and farted for me. They found it a bit weird, but for none of them it was a reason to leave me. I actually have prior experience with this, as my current boyfriend has this fetish. It was more funny to me than sexy, and I grew up pretty comfortable with embracing my bodily functions and farting in public so I never ran into any issues with it. And others might or might not do so as well. Disgust is highly subjective. If I say I find raisins gross, while you happen to love them, all I can tell you is that they are gross to me because "I say so". I can try to describe it and go into details, but it won't change that I find them gross and you don't, for instance. So yes, we all are always "at the mercy" of others when it comes to these things.
