How did you learn that anal sex existed, specifically?

I'm not talking about literal experience... i mean, how did you 'hear about' or 'read up' that anal sex even was 'a thing' or that it was possible. Especially if, like me somewhat, you'd never really ever considered anal sex and only had ever thought of sex as vaginal (and lesser, oral) only. Not a guy sticking his penis inside and deep up in his lady friend's rear-end. I only 'heard about' anal when i was 18 and only seriously looked it up in online research when i was 22/23.

When I was in my early 20's, I had heard mention of anal sex but had never thought much about it. When I was 24, I started dating a girl who had genital herpes. We preferred sex without condoms. She told me that she was not contagious unless she had active lesions in her pussy.
