Little bit bitten Nipple what should I do?

Last night my boyfriend was bitting my nipple and when I came home it hurt but I think it was just a little pain that wil go now I had showered and I saw that I have little cut on my nipple I cleaned it with a antibacterial spray for skin and I put some antibacterial powder and bandage. How can I know that it won’t be infected? Right now it doesn’t hurt but when I was cleaning it hurt a little bit

Once the area starts to get hot to the touch, meaning that it is warmer than the area around the wound, then it is a sign of the beginning of an infection.

The next step would be a red ring forming around the wound. Being where it is, it may be difficult to observe because the areola itself is on the reddish/brownish tones. If the red ring increases in size, it is an emergency as it would be the sign of an impeding sepsis.

But it is likely to go away if you disinfected it before the would could close again. I would not worry about it. Just refrain from touching this sensitive area and also tell your boyfriend that nipples are not made to be bitten, at least not by non breastfeeding newborns.

However, you should be cautious in the future nevertheless. The nipple is the exit of the milk duct when you breastfeed. Repeated wounds to the nipple and the duct may cause scarring tissue with time and obstruct the milk duct.

You may have problems breastfeeding, should you want to have children in the future. But this is just hypothetical of course.

Keep an eye on the wound and don't let it get infected. Best of course would be to leave the wound uncovered so that a crust can form.

However, it is not so convenient if you are in public, right?
