This thought has bugged me for a while because surely having long nails would hurt a fair amount. Tell me if I'm wrong

Those have no problem with acrylic or natural nails and the few others that do this lewd manipulation certainly have found ways to bypass the problem of long nails.

Furthermore, one can easily remove the acrylic nails and then, the problem is solved.

I realise that not all girls need or even necessarily want to masterbate, I was asking the question to those do indulge in it. Also I get that the nails can be removed but isn't the point of them to be kept on?

You don't need to keep those acrylic fingernails on all the time. First of all, they are not healthy to be worn all the time as they prevent the nail to breathe. They need to come off from time to time. Also, those acrylic nails are more for show than to serve any purpose. With the pandemic and social distancing, there is no real need to wear them so often anyway since nobody can see them and that they are more of a handicap than beneficial.
