Why has the normalization of male sex toys taken much longer than female sex toys?

So the electric vibrator has been around since the late 1800's although it was sold for many purposes, pretty much anything under the sun. It quickly became a tool for sexual pleasure, already in the early 1900's it was hinted in ads that women should buy vibrators for that purpose. Granted it was also used by doctors to try and cure melancholy by giving women orgasms... Because doctors were real smart back then. 😆 So anyways women have had the pleasure of vibrating toys for well over 100 years, and it was normalized really quickly.

But when you look at toys for men it still today seems like there is a bit of a stigma about men who buys and uses sex toys. Like most people wouldn't bat an eye if they spotted a dildo or vibrator at a females place. But if you spotted a fleshlight at a guys place it gives of a very different vibe. So what do you think, why is mens sex toys still not normalized yet? 🤔

Follow up question for the women, i've heard several women dislike or have a negative opinions about mens sex toys. If you do dislike or have a negative opinion on mens sex toys, why is that?

Superb Opinion

  • Respect and empathy. Men are supposed to be the gender that accomplishes, that goes out and GETS SHIT DONE. That includes persuading women to have sex with them. A man who can't do that is seen as a failure, and no one wants to be a failure, so...

    Like most cultural values, it's built off of biological realities; it'll take a long, long time to fade away.

  • sooo it took 100 years for vibrators to be accepted, and you wanna know how long it will take for a "pock-pussy" to be accepted? I would guess a lot less...

  • I don't care 🤷🏼‍♀️ toys are toys. It would be strange if a guy had a collection of fleshlights or a doll he treats like a wife though

    • Would you also consider it strange if a woman had a collection of dildo's/vibrators?

    • Of course. Why would anyone have a lot of toys of one kind? I understand if somebody has rope, a vibrator, a dildo, a fleshlight, etc. that's kinky but having a lot of toys of one type seems weird to me

    • Oh okay so it's not about how many toys a person owns but the difference of the toys? I guess I can see that somewhat.

  • I created an account today specifically to ask this question. I think that when you say this;

    "stigma about men who buys and uses sex toys. Like most people wouldn't bat an eye if they spotted a dildo or vibrator at a females place."

    This captures the general sentiment I have felt lately.

    In light of this, I am noticing a trend. Women seem to be more accepting. It's men who generally demonize it and have expressed that if you have one, it must be because you are "incapable of getting pussy".

  • I really don't have anything negative to say.

    • Well thats only a good thing. 😃

    • Have you ever used a sex toy on a man? Or, would you like to? If you do, what would you like to use on a guy?
