Girls, did you ever notice that you prefer other men on your fertile days?

IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ MY TEXT: watch this video from minute 11:00 (although I highly recommend watching it from minute 5:00).

I find this stuff super interesting! To all women who don't use hormonal contraception: Did you ever notice that you are sexually more attracted to testosterone-loaded, "masculine" men on your fertile days than on your infertile days?

The so-called "Ovulatory shift hypothesis" has been proven by countless studies and is hardly controversial among evolutionary biologists. It states that women’s mate preferences shift over their hormonal cycle.

Put simply, it's like this:

On their infertile days, women prefer men who are willing and able to do "parental investing” meaning men who are willing and able to provide for their offspring. Women prefer in this phase rather loving, caring, humorous, reliable, hard-working etc... men as they are best suited to help raising the offspring.

On their fertile days, on the other hand, women prefer men who have "good genes". By "good genes" is meant genes with which the offspring has both: high chances of survival and high chances of reproduction. Characteristics that signal (subconsciously) to women that a man has "good genes" are almost everything that is correlated with high testosterone levels, such as:

- assertiveness, dominance

- a deep voice

- a prominent jaw

- a strong, muscular body

- a strong beard growth (I am not claiming that most women are attracted to long beards, but that most are attracted to a strong beard growth. That’s a difference!)

- willingness to take risks

etc..

If you don’t believe this, I can provide tons of studies I read, that have confirmed it.

My question now is: have you ever recognized that your preferences change over the cycle?

  • Good Question! There's not a gigantic difference for me, but I do notice my attitude changing towards guys when I'm getting closer to my period. During the other times of the month I'm trying to look good and be attractive, but when I hit the time when I'm ovulating I start to REALLY go over the top. It's like in normal weeks I'm kind-of relaxed and casual about what I look like and what other people look like, but once it hits that time of the month for me I start noticing guys' masculine features better. Just like you said- strong jaws, muscular-framed bodies, and their low voices, and I start to ooh and aah at them more. I talk about them more with my friends and I'm super horny- and I also actually make an even bigger effort into my appearance, too!
Anyways, I don't know, maybe this is a weird response but this is what I've noticed for me:)

    • @tennisgirly Ok very interesting. Thanks a lot for your opinion 🙂

    • yeah no problem!

  • no.
I've heard of this theory before and while it may be true, that would probably be on a very sub-conscious level. Just as true as maybe how men prefer women with wider hips/larger breasts.

Speaking for myself, the only thing that changes with my cycle is how horny I am. At no point in my cycle will a guy having a lot of muscles and/or 'strong beard growth'. tbqh, a beard of any kind is repulsive to me 100% of the time) render me blind to him being a complete douchebag or showing no interest in a long-term relationship.

  • I think this is a good example if how conartists exploit basic science to part gullible men from their money. It is true that in nature females will seek out other males when their partner isn't looking, birds are notorious for this. There are many studies into sperm competition, mate guarding etc through out the animal kingdom and yes we do see the same behaviour in humans.
But as for us finding different types more attractive depending on our cycle I'm sceptical.

  • Well, I never know when I'm fertile or when I'm infertile. So, I've never noticed this. If it's true, then it's very interesting and fascinating.

  • I just notice being hornier and wanting to risk more with my significant other. XD

    • Do you notice you get more assertive in your relationship or you want to risk more with your partner together?

    • @hhH2traveler yeah pretty much xD

  • I've never noticed this, but it's fascinating. I'm strongly attracted to guys with beards, or the ability to grow one & pointed noses. I'm also VERY attracted to "nice" guys, especially those that have an assertive personalities.

    • @dazed0n0confused Thanks for your opinion 🙂

    • Wow, you described me. Not trying to hit on or harass you, I’m not that assertive with a stranger.

  • That is why gangband are my favs

    • *gangbangs

  • I do have a horny and asexual phase I guess.

    • Nice

    • Thanks for answering this question 🙂

  • Nope. I’ve not had such changes. I’m always attracted so those kind of guys😍

  • Not me particulary but I've heard a female comedian talk about that. Personally mine never really change

  • I don't think I put that much thought into it.

  • My preferences do not change during different times of my cycle. I have one boyfriend and am, and always will be, only attracted to him. The theory is interesting, it just doesn't fit me

    • @proteus912 Ok thanks for your opinion!

  • An interesting note for me is that I generally prefer girls but right before my period my attraction shifts towards guys more. I guess that idea is just applying itself slightly differently for me.

  • When ovulating I’m more often horny. But when in a relation I would not jump on other men than mine.

  • During ovulation, we have no preference. As long as we satisfy the biological urge.

  • Even on my period, I don't go over the top at all, I just want it to be over with lol

  • Not at all. I do have more bisexual fantasies when my period get closer though

  • I do notice being extremely horny and wanting to jump on my partner often like a rabbit. ONLY WITH MY PARTNER.

  • No. but as another man I prefered only one old man. 😍
