I guess he cared. But that's really dangerous! We were told as kids never to touch anyone elses blood. It reacts with our immune system in so many ways. Perhaps he'll be okay but mucus is literally the path to transmission of an unwanted infection or immune reaction. Also his mouth has terms and you don't want any direct contact from him on a cut. To be on the safe side use antiseptic wipes on your cut and wash it put a band aid on it regularly.

It's not a matter of tasting your blood It's actually a quick way of stopping the bleeding and it's a sign of affection might seem a bit weird but it's not in any way.
