  • Goaded, dude. . . you can't be seriously thinking that agreement between Qanon and TYT is an agreement between two parties that are intelligent, compassionate, and legitimate. Qanon is a conspiracy cult. TYT is just some weird soft of leftist, not really leftist political action committee.

When you look around GaG, disagreement is not over anything you can make sense out of. These are mostly very mentally disturbed trolls. Their viewpoints are warped and mutated beyond anything that resembles logic or fact.

I included two Qanon followers in my meetup discussions a couple of weeks back. They would not agree to objective measures for any issue they brought to the table. We talked about Covid-19. I told them to state to me the objective measures they would accept for declaring any outbreak a pandemic.

    They couldn't do it.

    They wouldn't do it.

Their belief system demands there is no such thing as objectivity.

    • Not at all, but there can be some common ground, like institutional racism and money in politics. I hold out a tiny piece of hope that, if you can show that you've previously said the same thing someone you disagree with said, they might see reason. The guy in the video had shunned QAnon, by the way. OK, I just had a 6 day conversation with someone who wanted to equate marching with a majority extremist group including Nazis and the KKK, with standing up to police brutality, where some tiny fraction of people are Marxists. But I live in hope that someone reading it will understand.

    • But that's the problem. He shunned Qanon. We have Qanon followers in Congress. Trump is Qanon's leader. 46% of Republicans will lead the party if Trump forms a new one. That is the current state of things in the U. S. I am in a political organization called Compassionate Citizens. I do not want to do this whole leadership thing. But I am being forced up because of my viewpoint and insights. We need a way to get to objective reality. And a process for shutting out those who refuse to recognize fact. I think this is about our actual political orientation. On the supposed traditional left, truth was more malleable. Not so for Conservatives. Even if the truth was something I was uncomfortable with, I would figure out how to deal with it. So here we are and one thing has been very revealing. People think that there is still a way to be neutral. But being neutral is not being truthful. Finding the midway point between a Qanon supporter and a person advocating for democracy is insane. Because Qanon represents insanity. We have to resist the urge to find the midway point between perspectives and find our way back to truth.

    • I agree with you that there's mid-point between sanity and insanity. I think Trump starting a new party would be the best thing for everyone.

But, sorry, I'm not going to let you get away with painting the left as being soft on the truth compared to conservatives. I still remember this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality-based_community .

Republicans have been lying their asses off since forever, and especially since the turn of the century. There's a direct path from saying, in 2004, 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do', and Trump and QAnon.
