How was your first time buying condoms?

I feel like it had to have been weird right?

On a separate note, In elementary school we got the puberty talk or whatever and girls and boys got sent home with stuff. Girls got info and a panty liner so did guys get info and... a condom? XD I feel like that would be a bit inappropriate to give to an elementary school boy.

  • O-M-G I was about 20 and I was going through the checkout. The cashier was I'd say about early 40's. When she saw that it was condoms that I was getting (with other things), she had this sick look about her like someone kicked her in the stomach. I always wondered about that. Seemed like such an inappropriate reaction. I wonder what her issues were.

Then literally around 15 years later, I was in THE SAME store. I was buying condoms and lube. And when the cashier saw it she acted kind of mad that she was seeing that. There must have been something about that store!!!

    • I never get why some people have that reaction, like they can't believe someone else is actually getting some lol.

    • I know, right? The first lady who I describe literally looked like she was suddenly sick. Like come on, what's up with that? Funny both incidents were in the same store only like 15 years apart.

  • I was never given a condom when in school. I bought them when I was a senior in high school because I knew that I was going to get more than a handjob or bj with my new girlfriend. It turns out she was on birth control (the pill) so when I had sex for the first time it was with no condom. We had sex 3 times that first afternoon and it was great. I was never embarrassed buying condoms... it is no big deal.
    Have you ever bought them?

    • No I haven't, I don't even know where they are in a store lol. But if I did I would use self check out or at least try not to look the cashier in the eye.

  • While buying condoms for my boyfriend way back when we were both 21, I mixed in a 2 boxes of Trojans with a lot of other groceries but the cashier still noticed it with significant gestures like giving me a disapproving stare, rolling her eyes & shaking her head. At that moment she made me feel uneasy. However, soon after I walked out the door, I felt "proud" & excited.

  • I didn’t buy condoms till college (usually the guy buys them). It was normal. He told me the brand (Ramses), I went in and bought them and we left.

  • I was like, "Fuck yeah; I'm getting laid! What do I have to be embarrassed about?"

  • A nightmare.
getting condoms at 13 is next to impossible,

you then have to do the cringe thing of asking a mates brother or just shop lifting them.

    • OOF. I can get why you wouldn't want to sell condoms to (what I consider to be) a child because it's almost like condoning them to have sex which just feel weird because of the age but at the same time if people are going to have sex they're going to have sex. Especially if they're young and dumb., so might as well make it available so bad things don't happen.

    • Lol less of young n dumb. It was / is a moral dilemma and a reason the UK had highest young pregnancy rate in Europe. Luckily it’s a little easier these days, and there are not as many ostriches about

  • The first time buying a box was after I traveled to France to study so I had no worries that the local pharmacist would recognize me a week after.

I got them at a supermarket they have a pharmaceutical section and when I was cashing out the girl working saw the condoms and a bottle of wine and a bottle opener and she looked at me with that look like she knows I'm not using these with a long time girlfriend or a wife or anything it's clearly a date and I'm going for the touchdown.

  • I was definitely self-conscious about it lol. Looking around to see who saw me in the aisle as if i was doing something wrong. Then, so many options, (better do your research before purchase 😂). Then i was hoping the cashier would not notice or whatever. But after that, i don't care now. It's very normal.

  • Very fustrating.

I bought multiple kinds because even after measuring myself and doing research on condom sizes I still to this day don't even know which brand/condom size is right for me. They all being me discomfort, some less than others.

Everytime I would just end up having sex without the condom, which made the whole endeavor pointless.

    • bring*

    • That's really interesting! I never thought about the fact that you have to find the size for yourself. If you don't mind me asking, what's uncomfortable about condoms? I mean especially if there's some lube on this inside it might make if feel more slippery. I obviously don't have anything to compare it to but I just don't understand how it reduces stimulation so much since you can still feel through the condom.

  • Uhh, I never bought condoms before \(〇_o)/

  • I mean the awkward part is shopping around for a brand that didn't strangle my dick to death. Probably had a dozen or more sexual encounters diminished in quality by Ill fitting condoms.

Finally found a brand I like, trojan bare skin.

  • It depends on the ages of the kids getting the talk. When does middle school start, at what age? My school was a small one, K-12, and I don't think we ever got "the talk". I was 10 when I got my first blowjob from a ": babysitter". It was the first time I came. I'd been masturbating before that.

    • Jesus Christ you were 10? And you got it from the babysitter? That seems super messed up morally... I mean I imagine she was older than you. Even if she was 13, what 13 year old would suck off an elementary school kid. DX

    • She was 15.

    • That's soooo Creepy! When I was 10 I was in the 4th grade and when I was 15 I was in the 8th grade about to go to high school!

  • Tbh both girls and boys should have gotten a condom. Now adays kids are having sex younger and to deny them something that will keep them safe from stds and pregnancies is just wrong. I bought my first condoms once i was in college. I never needed them till now. I actually had no problem nor did i feel ashamed or embarrassed. The cashier was professional who was a girl by the way. The only ones that ever gave me an issue was my parents. Just shows the hypocritical reactions can show.

  • No problem.

  • It was very strange and I was very nervous

  • Never tried it yet.

  • Super awkward. But I get finny reactions when they see the size of condoms i get lol
