  • Agreed, I had never heard it until I came to this site.

I assume it’s another of these wank Americanisms.

me, I prefer partners, sexual partners etc.

Body count is like teenage boys bragging in the school playground.

I just assume it’s a teen thing you do over there, it’s incredibly infantile but not really surprised tbh.

    • I realis and I have taken otice of the ages that stan this phrase. I guess its all part of this death culture the youth are being fed.

    • I would also hazard a guess, a bit like those school boys in the playground, anyone actually using it only using it to hide their failed masculinity. Just been chatting to a mate about it, our synopsis, is that it’s used by young and or immature people that have a very limited understanding or experience of sex or relationships. Basically when someone uses it, they a confessing to the internet at large: Unsure about their own masculinity Immature Lack of awareness about sex and relationships. And most likely small cocks. Now if everyone thinks of that when a poster uses it, it’s fucking hysterical

  • makes me "cringe" every time I read it... lol. As if it were me saying it. so I feel "stupid by proxy"

    • Stupid by proxy yes!

    • lmfao

  • Good to know I'm not the only one who finds that off-putting. But I'm pretty sure we're in the minority here.

    • And that's OK. Welcome.

  • No. No we can't.

  • Why?

  • Great idea!!! Thanks...

  • Nah, I’m good.

  • What simple term or phrase do you suggest it be replaced with? Of do you mean you just don't want people to talk about or know about the number of sexual partners?

    • I can't stop people from airing their personal business. Maybe I'll make a new post about what term we could use instead. I mean you sleep with someone and they are now a murder victim. It's the semantics of it that I find so cringe.

    • I see your point.

    • Thanks. I don't expect people will stop using the term because they feel edgy using forensic terms to refer to their sex life but, I just wanted it out there that it's stupid to do so.

  • Oh didn't anyone tell you? That's amount of people, someone has killed not sexual partners.

    • Death by sex?

    • I mean if they want? whatever floats there boat lol

  • Sure. Sometimes you'll see it referred to simply as someone's "number".

    • Whatbim getting at is why are we linking crime scene verbiage to sexual intimacy

    • Well, it's not that ridiculous given that sex is between bodies, but I see your point.

    • Yes, and violence and sex are not mutually exclusive. It just sounds so try hard to me.

  • I think "partners" works.

  • there doesn't need to be a new term, because body count doesn't mean anything.

  • We could, but we won't

  • nope you did the crime now do the time 😂

    • That was funny. I still think the term is so dumb.

    • i dont lol

    • I get that.

  • Im game.

  • Works for me!

  • What's the alternative?

  • I don't like it either. Any better suggestion?

    • Yeah stop talking about it in general because it shouldn't be public domain.

  • euphemism

    • A euphemism is a polite expression used in place of words or phrases that might otherwise be considered harsh or unpleasant. These phrases are used regularly, and there are many examples of euphemisms in everyday language. examples.yourdictionary.com/...s-of-euphemism.html

Which part of the term "body count" is polite? A euphemism is saying I had a roll in the hay with Sheila.

    • @coulis drops the mic. BOOM.

  • The point is why should we?

  • why?

    • It's a term to refer to crime scenes where dead bodies are littered. Lkke why would you refer to being intimate with someone this way. It just diminishes the gravity of sexual contact.
