Why are some guys super self conscious about the way they smell?

I've had a few guys in the past that I hanged with that were really self conscious about their smell, like they wouldn't even hug me and insisted on getting in the shower. I really don't mind it and actually like the funk/musky smell a lot, but they still said no. Is this common and have you experienced something similar?

I am a guy who doesn't understand this. My flatmate has more colognes than a department store and always insist on smelling like to me a french whore. 🌹

  I was at dinner one time with an ex and her aunt. I had just spent 3 hours in the yard cutting and trimming it for her aunt. She took us out to dinner and sat across from us.   I never said that. The question was why do they care about how they smell. I’m really strict on my hygiene but idc if a guy is kinda smelly if I like them.
