  • Ah. This eternal argument.
The reason to keep abortion legal is so women won't die from back alley abortions. It is a medical procedure that is safe and will not interfere with a woman's fertility if done by a practitioner.

The argument against abortion is, as soon as an egg is fertilized it is a person.
Well, a fertilized egg is not a human. It has the potential to be a human being after it has developed for about five months or so, and it will only survive then through intensive neonatal care for as many months as it was premature.

But this is a religious argument that you can't argue away. The religious say it IS a human from conception. Well, then, remove the egg from that person and develop it for someone else who wants that potential human. Can't do it? OK then.

Until we have aquariums that can develop a child for nine months until full development, that fertilized egg that the woman doesn't choose to carry to full term will not magically be a human.

People need to be able to choose.

The anti abortion forces are all about the mother's care while she's pregnant, but NONE of them support taking care of that child for the next 18 years.

If a woman can't afford to have another child because of finances and there is no one to support her, the option of carrying YOUR baby to term to give it to some adoption agency is abhorrent.

You'll never know if that child was stuck in the system and in foster care through its childhood. Most nonwhite babies STAY in foster care, which DUMPS THEM into the world at age 18. There are no college funds, no host of relatives, no wonderful birthday parties, summer vacations: NOTHING normal about their lives in this system. Most adults that end up in the prison system come from foster care.

Most grow up wondering why their mother or father or both abandoned them.

It's better to bring a child into the world who you're ready to love and support and raise to the best of your sbility. Rolling the dice is a far worse than an abortion.

    • Very true. I’d just say a fertilized egg is “human” - just not a person. The idea of personhood or when life becomes a person is the ultimate question. But other than that, totally agreed.

    • @screenwriter - We'll head this down the line, one paragraph after the next. Women die these days from abortion in the clinics. No one forces a woman to get an abortion, those choices might be influenced by others, but in the end she decides to walk through or out the doors of the abortion clinic. If a fertilized egg is NOT human, what are they? From the moment of conception the unborn are whole, distinct human beings; someone who has never existed previously in the world and will never exist again in the future of the world. Where am I using religion? Sure I could use religion but science proves the case for life, that is all I need. If a woman decides to partake in an action known to create life, she freely decides to partake in the potential risks. Most choices involve a risk, sex is just one choice that has known risks. All people deserve choices and unborn babies are people too. Where is your evidence to support this claim, number one and two, there are lots of places where a woman in a crisis pregnancy can get help so you are wrong on this point. Again, she doesn't know what can and won't happen. This still doesn't allow her to kill her unborn child. Know why there are so many children in the adoption system? Lack of fathers. Something like ninety percent are there because the father is absent. Killing the child just covers the problem up. Do you know I agree with you? If a couple can't handle the responsibility of raising a child, then don't partake in the activity known to create new life. This "right" to self pleasure and gratification does NOT exist in the American Constitution, no where; it's certainly not consequence free! If it does, please illuminate me.

  • I think there's a lot more nuance then just 'being forced to be pregnant'. When a fetus develops enough to be considered human enough to have a life independent of the mother is a legitimate debate that I don't think has a clear cut answer. I don't think that life begins at conception, but I also think it's safe to say getting an abortion 8.5 months into a pregnancy isn't really any different killing it 2 weeks latter when it's born. Somewhere in between the baby/fetus (however you want to refer to it) gains enough humanity that it has a life independent of that of the mother carrying it. I'm not sure where that is, and I quite frankly don't think anyone has a good answer. The lines people typically draw for when that point is are often either too extreme and emotion driven to be convincing or very artificial and seem to be largely based on guessing. However, if I'm going to lean towards one side it's going to be the pro life side. If I'm going to be morally wrong I'd much rather be morally wrong in that I unjustly denied women access to a certain form of birth control. I would much less want to be morally wrong in that I advocated for the murder of children. Both are bad, but one is clearly freaking ton worse than the other.

    • I'm just glad I never had to deal with the abortion thing. My two girls were both planned. Even though my twin boys were an accident I was actually very happy about having them (after I got over the initial shock that is).

    • Right, agreed. Reading about it, doctors are pretty strict on late term abortions. But yes the ultimate question is when the fetus becomes a “person”. It seems stupid to think in an instant a newly fertilized egg is a person. But certainly 8 months later it’s surely a person.

    • The unborn are whole, complete, human, beings at the moment of conception; science is abundantly clear on this. The unborn might change their size, level of awareness, environment and degree of dependency; but so does every single human that has every existed. In addition all birth-control (except barriers) is abortifacient, without exception. Hell, it's in the name BIRTH-CONTROL, the hormones control birth.

  • I'm assuming that we talk about women and abortion. If we start talking about men being forced to have unwanted children, this becomes a more complicated question. But under this assumption, I agree.

I believe people should do their part to prevent unwanted pregnancies and use some kind of contraception, but even when doing so, there is a risk of getting pregnant. And then of course they should be allowed an abortion.
In the case of rape victims, there's no consent for the sex and as such not for a pregnancy. If a raped woman want to terminate the pregnancy that's perfectly acceptable.

There are, however, people who don't want to use contraception and repeatedly get pregnant and repeatedly get abortions. While I still believe it's better to terminate an unwanted pregnancy than to bring an unwanted child into the world, I can get quite furious about the people who show that kind of disrespect for their own body or the body of others (e. g. men who refuse to wear a condom).
An abortion is not a small even. It's emotionally taxing and there is a risk of complications during the procedure.

And despite being in the "pro choice" camp, it still saddens me to see the lack of respect and understanding for life of people who have several abortions due to a poor or lazy attitude towards contraception.
If people don't want to put a new life into the world they should try to avoid making one in the first place; use protection!

    • Glad to see someone of the same mind as I. Respect.

  • There are some positive and negative sides of both the way of thinking - emotionally, morally and physically too.
Its your body and you should have a right to abort, but also the body inside you is another living organism and it is here because you have not taken proper care of stopping the cause.
So, if you are a victim of rape or other domestic voilence that you just can't give birth to a child - one should be given the choice of abortion, but if you have done it just because you are a dick loving hottie who loves a lot of sex and became pregnant accidently - my conscience does not allow you to do the abortion. The mistake was yours, why would a living thing which has not yet born will die in womb.

  • When does this happen? Seems like a stupid argument, no one forces women to be pregnant, they just force her to take responsibility for her actions when she chooses to get pregnant. Again, this seems really stupid and poorly thought out.

    • “She chooses to get pregnant” You fucks can’t stop slut shaming.

    • Are you insane? A woman can choose to get pregnant or not to get pregnant. We have birth control we have many many different types of birth control, some less then a dollar, so their is literally no excuse at all to get pregnant. That isn't slut shaming, that is reality.

  • Agreed. Whenever possible, not aborting should be done to preserve the lure of the child, of course; but if moo iron is viable to ensure the mother will be ok during and after the pregnancy and will be able to have a normal life and care for the kid as she should, then abortion is the right choice.

    • Or if the woman changes her mind. Her body.

    • Of course.

    • Have you ever spent nine months with a pregnant lady? Are you telling me she never changes her mind? Abortion is always irreversible because a dead child is the result.

  • No one should be forced or feel to be forced to have sex with a guy either. If guys were more aware of the responsibility they have with engaging in coitus without a condom we wouldn´t have this kind of abortion debate all together.

    • It´s automatic because the website wants to have MHO´s for every question answered I think. So if you don´t choose them, they do it for you.

    • But guys will never have this responsibility because no baby grows in their bodies. It's just a biological fact. And it's unfortunate. If a man OR a woman got pregnant in some kind of biological lottery, MEN WOULD BE TERRIFIED and there'd be birth control for them too and they'd use it. It isn't like that, so they don't do it. And there's the worst of the worst, those who abscond completely. Those who disappear. And the bottom of the barrel, fathers who walk out on their LIVING and present children. Secondarily, fathers who don't pay child support after divorce. Or fathers who were never married and never pay child support to the women they leave behind for other women and other children. This is so common as to be ordinary. So women choosing abortion ARE being responsible in light of the circumstances, like the above, that they face. Children need two, dedicated parents. If they don't have that, it's a poor circimstance to grow up in. If a woman chooses not to have a child in that circumstance, I support her choice of not living in a fantasy of MAYBE it'll come out right even if I have no job, no education, haven't finished high school and have nowhere to live cause my parents have thrown me out.

  • @hellionthesagereborn
    Yep

  • Unless they're raped, no one is forced to be pregnant.

With actions, comes responsibility and consequences.

Intimacy is one of those actions. The more often you open your legs, the more likely you are to get pregnant. But many women in today's day and age, pretend they want equality like men, but than don't want any adult responsibility for their actions, like men are held to.
Many want to open their legs but that than don't want the real responsibility that potentially comes with those actions.

    • Why do fucks keep couching this as slut consequences?

    • Because in the real world, with certain actions comes potential consequences. Therefore responsibility is required. What part of that, is so hard to understand?

    • That you care more for fetuses than children who are already born. 1 in 5 are starving fyi

  • Life begins at the moment of conception; there is no argument there. Every abortion attempts to kill that child. If a couple doesn't want to get pregnant; avoid the activity that is known to create life. The experiences of life are NOT consequence free. Yet abortion allows people to erase a choice they make. It is so sad that abortion slaughters millions of babies every year and most people are willing to allow the evil because it doesn't effect them personally.

  • i don't want to be a father!!!

    • I told you I’m keeping this baby and naming it SevenPoint Jr!

    • in all honesty i'd be a good father but i don't want one. if forced to have one i think doing it alone would be best for me

  • 100% agree

  • Don't have unprotected sex.
You should be aware that pregnancy can result from it, so by willingly engaging in it you are accepting that risk.

  • Agree to the extent that you described rape!

  • Only raped women are forcibly pregnant.
Getting pregnant as a CONSEQUENCE of sex is not being "forced," anyone that thinks so is lying to themself.

  • well are you forced to be pregnant if you had sex without birth control? xD or are you just stupid and lack responsibility? well using that argument, i'd probably have to support abbortion cause i wouldn't like any child having to grow up with parents that irresponsible.

    • Think about young kids who have sex in their teens. They are the most common people who have abortions because they ARE irresponsible because they ARE young and think it'll never happen to them. After THAT experience, they'll never take birth control for granted. There's few procedures more humbling and disturbing than abortion. You grow up quick when you have that experience.

    • @Screenwriter just cause you're young, doesn't mean you're stupid and have no sense of responsibility. i think the issue that you scratched there is a horrible deficientcy in sexual education in our society. children that are educated and raised correctly don't have such issues.

    • I think youth IS the delimiter. I know I did some extremely foolish things once or twice in my early 20s that ended up with me getting physically hurt. I took a chance at unprotected sex once too. And it ONLY TAKES ONCE. It from that thinking that nothing bad can happen to you because nothing bad HAS happened.

  • Your question is wrong, forced to be pregnant can be classified as rape or pressure. But abortion is killing a child the only case when abortion should be done is if it's an incestual case or a rape case, in no other circumstance should a child be killed. I hate the sheer hypocrisy of those people who say these kinds of thinks they believe a child can choose to become a tranny even if the parent doesn't allow it but allow the murder of the child because the parent doesn't want it.

    • Equating a bean sized fetus to a child is the only way you guys argue about this.

    • OddBeMe - Take a breath for me; you just changed you size. Oh I forgot, you are the same size as when you were five too. We all change our size, throughout our entire lives. Do you just kill those who are inconvenient and cannot defend themselves?

  • I believe that a woman has the right to be pregnant by the guy that she is in a relationship with, but abortion should not be a thing because aborting a child could risk not bringing the equivalent of someone who would become the focus of a new faith body that people become very grateful is among them whether they be like Jesus or not. That is an act of faith from me at the least of an end of the spectrum.

  • Being forced to be pregnant means they were raped. I don’t believe in abortion BUT, I will even say if you must, then only in the case of incest, rape, or risk of the life of the mother IF it’s done within the first trimester.

    • Or if she just doesn’t want it.

    • What about the life of the child though? It has no value?

    • Even in the cases of rape, incest or the risk of the mothers life; the child is alive at the moment of conception.

  • Nah ❗Sometimes forced Pregnancy is hot 🔥

  • Use condoms and they won't get pregnant.

    • Agreed. So we should make brith control free and hand them out at high schools everywhere right?

    • That is not a bad idea actually. Then teach girls self worth so they don't let just any dick into their bed. 😎

    • Your sexist rhetoric aside, yes teaching children about sex earlier in life would limit abortions.

    • Show All
  • Well the thing is, that's also my child. Why do I not get a say in it? I pump that sperm into her belly, that sperm was mind before it went into her. That's why a lot of men think that they should also get a choice. It's not fair to simply give the women the option of killing her son/daughter without asking for consent from the father. But hey it is what it is, women will do what they want and so will men. Sooner or later who knows maybe guys might just stop having kids all together and eventually men may start using A. I. sex dolls. With current technology who knows there may be something like that in the near future

    • @jasco - You are right, the father deserves the right and responsibility of the child. Also, the status quo is not a reason to stop change. Imagine where we would be as a nation if things never changed from the original founding of our country and world.

    • @KneeDragger Some things shouldn't have change and others should have change sooner but it is what it is

  • No human life should be forced to be aborted either.

    • When it relies on someone else’s body, sorry it her choice.

    • OddBeMe... Only mankind's Leagal system of evil denial of GOD. Every human has a God giving right to life regardless of your stand down weak cowardly excuse for am man you were born as. GODS body , her choice , her destiny to a place called hell. And you condone this meham?

    • Nature determines where pregnancy exists, it sure isn't her choice because she wants to be irresponsible for her actions and choices.

  • Ideally not, but if it happens that is NOT an excuse to murder the unborn child.
