My thing is I despise hypocrisy and lies. It's either all the way for both or neither way for either. What I'm getting at is the laws either apply equally to both sexes or don't apply at all. If it doesn't apply equally then that isn't justice, it's hypocrisy and I have seen lots of it.
When I was around the age 15, I had a friend that was 3 months younger than I was. He ended up in a relationship with a store clerk that whole town knew about including the local police that frequented her store and knew her well and they were seen all over town together her under his arm and she was in her mid 30's. They ended up living together for a short while and if I'm not mistaken possibly were married for a short while after that. But they also split up in a short while too. What was the outcome? He ended up paying child support as soon as he turned 18.
When it comes to a woman getting involved with a minor she rarely goes to jail and it's referred to as a relationship or improper relationship. However when it's the reverse and it's a man, then it's rape. Women rarely ever go to jail over it much less go to prison. And when they do again very rarely, they don't get the same sentence a men gets and they're only sent there to say the system works.
It's pushed in society that a man couldn't possibly fall in love with anyone under age and that if it's a man he's only out to take advantage of the person under age. And the opposite is true about women and the under aged.
Try suggesting the age of consent be dropped making it possible for younger to get married etc to women and they will jump all over you. They will say things like (THEY ARE TOO YOUNG FOR THAT KIND OF RESPONSIBILITY!) And they will make that argument with you while at the same time assuming they have daughters, will allow their daughters to move in with boys, or girls, partake in the things that pertain to marriage not to mention things like getting tattooed up, going to wild parties, and a whole list of any and other things. They're just not allowed to be responsible for the things they partake in and do outside of marriage that belong in a marriage excluding the extra's tattoos etc.
Here's the thing. Puberty for women generally starts around age 11 and ends around age 16. I would say the age of consent should be around that time. Mistakes happen by people of all ages... not just younger people. As long as you're taught to be safe, then sex is fine as long as it's consented by both individuals. This concept of "minor" and what is considered "immoral" is indoctrination. Laws have such power over the plebs in the sense that they immediately think "Hey it's a law which means you're a bad person if you commit the crime." People back in the day never held our views about the consented age. I'm not saying they were right back then and we are wrong now, but people are too anal about every little detail nowadays.
It's as simple as this... if you're attracted to someone sexually and the feeling is mutual between you and consent is given... sex should be allowed.
I swear we really should start recording women saying they consented to sex beforehand to prevent any consequences to guys that have no intention to rape.
People need to start understanding that it's literally a biological disposition in females to be attracted to dominant traits like bigger, stronger, older, provider, etc. And it's mens biological disposition to be attracted to smaller, younger, shorter, submissive, etc girls.
Though it's very common for teeny-boppers to be attracted to older guys, doesn't mean it's a good idea. A 15 year old is still a girl. A 20 year old is a young man. And of course a young MAN is sexier than the BOYS she's going to school with: some of whom still look like muscleless girls.
But what 20 year old is interested in dating a child who's still in high school? This is where the question gets rough. Well, lots of 15 year olds have the bodies of grown women because women mature physically earlier than guys. Doesn't mean their BRAINS are in line with those bodacious bods. And to protect the still immature, there are statutory rape laws.
Of course teens WANT to hook up with older men and women, but it's a bad idea EMOTIONALLY. They need some years of LIFE under their belts, NOT SEX. Usually when young girls get pregnant, it's due to being with men much older than them who react to WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE, not to WHAT THEY ARE: GIRLS.
THis happens far less frequently with boys because 15 year old boys usually look much younger. And lucky for them. THere's a lot fewer older women hitting on teen boys because of that. BUT there's a market among gay men for twinks: young looking and young boys. It's ALL unsavory. Leave the damn kids alone. There are plenty of slightly older fish in the sea who are just fine and legal.
Wish I had a dime for every time this question has been asked on GaG. And as usual there will always be a disagreement as guys love a young girl even though it is statutory rape for a 20 yr old guy and a 15 yr old girl - if they have sex. If they don't have sex until she is 18 - you must be dreaming if you think that is going to happen - then it would not be as bad. But frankly a college student should not be dating a high school freshman. That just makes the guy look like a creeper and not able to relate to others his own age.

The only time I see any acceptance of it is when you have a couple we meet in high school. A guy who is a senior and a girl who is a freshman he graduates and they still date. He turns 18 years old and she legally under age I don’t think he should get in trouble for that. But then you have the guy who is 20 years old hitting on underage girls. It’s that law there is a reason for it and I think it should be followed. The fact is school age girls who date guys out of school are at the highest drop out rate. It depends on which country you are talking about. In UK, it is 16. I think that is OK. Some places, it is 18. I think that is OK.
Anything less is undesirable. Anything more is too high.
Bear in mind, too, that it is very difficult to enforce, as sex is a usually a private act.

They can have a legal relationship in the US, get married in Massachusetts. You could have a 12 year old girl and 14 year old boy get married there with parental consent. Otherwise just visit a foreign country, get married, and get it registered in the US.

Even though the age of consent is usually 16 in the most countries, I feel in reality many are not ready at that age, I definitely was not. I assume others feel the same.

I believe 15 is the youngest it should be. In my home state of Texas, the age of consent is 17. Some of these statutory rape cases just need to be thrown out. For example, an 18 year boy has sex with his 16 year old girlfriend, and the parents press charges. That's going overboard. Would I be happy in that situation if that were my daughter? No, but I wouldn't press charges against her boyfriend.
