Being an electrician I have seen what lightning can do to a house like melt the old picture tubes in TV's, kick up grass into the roof, burn power cords to bare wire and so much more. I have seen videos and heard people discribe the ball lightning but thankfully I haven't seen it first hand.

I did when one night long ago when some high tension power lines fell across the lower level lines leading to my house from the pole. There was a snap and a large ball of blue light floated out of one wall, went across the room, and hit the other wall. Scared the hell out of me.

0 1 0 0I have read about but nobody I know has ever seen it. Glad I'm not nuts, or maybe we both are?
Wow, it was just like that. I wasn't sure if I was seeing things. It was early and the room was a little dark. The ball was hovering and as soon as I turned on the light the bulb exploded. My father told me it was probably a power surge that caused the light bulb to explode.

2 1I've heard of it but never been lucky enough to see one. I've heard kicking them isn't a good idea
0 2 0 0That is wild! I’ve never heard of that. Was it like a static charge?
1 0 0 0Like all lightning, I imagine it is based on a buildup of negative ions.
Very cool
It's based on St Elmo's fire
