Why does my dick look bigger in camera?

That's the nature of how lenses work. They cause this thing called "lens distortion", because lenses aren't flat - they're spherical (sections of spheres).

With a very long lens - like a telescope - you barely notice this distortion, because you're looking at such a tiny angle. But with a wide-angle lens, you get "barrel distortion" (a square ends up roughly barrel-shaped) , and the wider the lens (i. e., the shorter the lens' focal length), the greater the distortion. Barrel distortion makes objects in the center of the frame appear larger. If you've ever heard "the camera adds 10 pounds", that's because people look both taller and wider on camera, especially when using shorter focal-length lenses, as is typical for closeups and "two" shots.

You'll notice that an awful lot of porn looks more like the right picture than the left. That's because you aren't going to get good porn by putting the camera on a tripod 100 feet away from the actors and using a long-focal-length lens - the camera is often within 3 feet of the actors or even less, which requires a wider-angle lens to capture enough context (i. e., if you want to see more than a single boob at a time), and so they use lenses with short focal-lengths, which results in a lot more barrel distortion.

One "happy little accident" is that dicks tend to look bigger, because they tend to be kept near the center of the frame. But if you pay attention, especially if you see several people in the shot, if someone is near the edge of the frame, especially near a corner, their image will be very distorted. In this pic, the girl in the center looks fine, but the guys on the edges of the frame have bent heads - that's what wide-angle lenses do.

We can now correct for this in software, but that's processor-intensive and time-consuming and certainly not a high priority for porn, as porn titles usually have a total production time of a couple of weeks at most, and in some cases, only a couple of days. And that's a whole different discussion anyway.

Well, I did professional video production for 4 years, and I still do some occasional video editing work for people. I also did some still photography, but I don't consider myself "professional" even though I got paid for some of that - my basic photography skills are strong, but pros run circles around me with the more advanced stuff.
