1. Because humans don't fully mature, mentally, until we're 24 years old so, really, even getting married at 18 is too young!!
2. A girl's body is not yet fully ready to HAVE babies until she's at about 16!! Oh, it can happen but, it's NOT the BEST idea in the world!!
3. In order to have kids, it'd be a GREAT help to be OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL!! Have a steady INCOME!! Baby'' are EXPENSIVE!!! And they need a LOT of care!!! It's not like a toy or a pet where once you get bored with it, you can just get up and walk away from it!! And, you have to have the intelligence and LOADS of patience to DEAL WITH THEM!!

These days (most) kids don't feel guilty about having sex outside marriage, so your reasoning is moot. And I think we can all remember decisions we made as tweens that we're glad didn't have the life-altering affects that a MARRIAGE would. Also how a 12 year old gonna buy a house and support kids when fricken nobody hires people under 15 anymore?
Most certainly not. 18 year olds aren’t even properly equipped to marry and choose their lifelong career. 12 or 14? Hellllll no.
Just because they are having sex doesn’t mean they are ready to settle down and get married. Two very different things!

The average age americans start having sex has been rising for decades. So this would be an unusual change. I also don't believe they start particularly early in comparison with say european teens.
In the old days there was no such thing as “adolescence.” In the old days many teens could run a farm, raise children, and support themselves. Today we encourage deferring responsibility and many turn into 25-year-old children who are not prepared for relationships whether or not they have sex.
