Is Gillette's "Short Dick Man" sexist towards men?

Is Gillettes Short Dick Man sexist towards men?
The song, which is written in 1995, contains lyrics such as "What in the world is that fucking thing? Do you need some fucking tweezers to put that little thing away?", an attempt to reverse the roles of body objectification.

Frankly, it's a song with a brilliant beat to it, and is included in my playlist I listen to while driving. But my last two boyfriends both told me how sexist and unacceptable this song is, and how the reverse would never happen.

Let's be real here. There are thousands of songs that objectify women, and especially in the 90's, a good percentage of men viewed women as sex objects. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire to give attention to certain issues. It's honestly ridiculous how men have no problem listening to songs calling women hoes, bitches, etc, but once their little manhood gets joked about, it's all unacceptable. This song is simply reversing the tables to bring attention to objectifying women, and unless you really think everything resolves around your teeny weeny, I don't see how it's sexist. In fact, the composers were men, and it just exposes how uneven of a society we live in.

Superb Opinion

  • You gotta love the double standards of believing "objectification towards women" is real, and that it's "okay to do it to men because they do it to us." It's like, I literally couldn't be as stupid as a feminist if I tried. That level of cognitive dissonance and/or hypocrisy astounds me. "My last two boyfriends" said without a hint of self-awareness! Gotta love it!

By the way, objectification isn't real; that's just called male heterosexuality, and if any gender was quality of "treating people like literal objects for their sexual gratification," it'd be the gender that not only reduces men down to their genitalia, but also never makes dildos under eight inches in size. And now we've come full circle again!

Speaking as a guy who is only 6.5 inches, I couldn't care less about the song and it wouldn't offend me. It's just a song, not revenge porn posted to OnlyFans (not that I've ever sent dick pics or anything; I just said I have a small dick; how stupid do you think I am?)

    • ... if any gender was *guilty of

  • As long as they don't write a son bashing a guy with a 6 inch dick specifically I'm fine.
I think somebody did make a funny song called "Big pussy woman" back then to counter that song.
I'm old enough to remember all this shit. 😅

  • Haven't heard the song but it sounds a great way of losing a huge chunk of your customers. I wonder how many guys will boycott them this time.
I don't think it's sexist because it references a single man not all men.
Now I'm off to play the song in a pub and pick up the guy who isn't crying at the end.

    • its a bad song since I have a micro dick and I can't increase it's size unlike women with flat chests who can get implants

  • Get over yourself.

  • this song was played at my school ride sometimes... lmfao
and also that annoying baby one

  • yes it's offensive. has nothing to do with the gillette company though. it was by a latin artist A20 featuring another female artist that used the name gillette. will admit the beat is catchy though.

  • yeah. remember back in the 90s, not everything one said was sexist or racist and cancelled immediately xD

  • Lol what you gonna say about this song then shaggy it wasn't me

  • Your question is literally 26 years old.

Is Gillette's "Short Dick Man" sexist towards men?
  • Hmm... Don't care. However... Seems like a stupid way to market your products since the clients are the very same people they're mocking.

  • Only guys with small dicks would say it's sexist 😂

  • Plenty of songs objectifying men in the 90s.
    And 80s.
    And 2000s.

From madona, to carrey. The RNB era had some brilliant songs.

  • I have a micro dick and I am offended by this, it's even more disgusting knowing it was done by a brand whose customers are mostly men

  • Sure but it cMe out in the 90’s before twat snowflakes were triggered by everything.

  • Well technically its not getting back at men who are sexist , its getting back at men with small penises regardless of whether they're pleasant to women or not. At its heart its a mean-spirited song.

  • Hmm, what if they didn't listen to those sexist songs objectifying women?

  • I could literally not care less, nor have I ever heard a man complain about it. It's pretty funny, really. Your butthurtness about it is even funnier.
