I can usually spot girls that are submissive, not in the street (normally) but by chatting with them…
Sometimes, there are possible indications that a girl may have inflicted pain on herself.

I was on the edge of masochism when dealing with the sex addiction. It was almost suicide by sex. I sought emotional pain instead of physical pain (through whips and whatever) but I sorta was ok with being ready to die if I caught something. Then I could die a victim... I guess.
I needed therapy so bad, I got it.
From my own experience (there are many other lives lived out there and I am not saying I know all of their motivations) masochism is such a desperate cry for help.
