Patience is key. Make sure he does not try to just shove it in there. Doggie or even elevated in your back. You need to relax the muscles there or it well hurt like hell. You can also get a numbing agent for your first time as well

Not so much about position than partner. If your partner is patient, takes his time, it shouldn’t hurt.

But, laying flat on tummy is a good one.
