  • Yes. Research has shown that male fertility also decline with age. More ”bad” sperm which aren’t able to fertilize an egg or lead to live birth. More mutations in the sperm. It takes on average longer for older men to get a woman pregnant compared to younger men. When the father is older there is also an increased risk of adverse pregnancy events like miscarriage, preterm labor (which in itself comes with a long list of possible complications or even death for the baby), increased risk of pregnancy complications for the woman, for example preeclampsia. A child born to an older father is also at increased risk for autism, adhd, schizophrenia, depression, learning difficulties, lower iq, addiction problems and suicide. If the woman is 10 or more years younger than the man the risks were even higher. The scientist started to see these effects in males from about age 35 and they increased with age. The highest risks could be seen in males over the age of 45.
Before anybody asks for sources, google for these studies if you want the sources. You should be able to find it easily.

    • Thank you so much! This makes me feel a lot better about my chances. I’ll google to fine the sources. Thank you so much!

    • That contradicts what my biology and statistics university classes show.

    • The woman age has a considerably higher impact on an increased risk of adverse pregnancy events like miscarriage, preterm labour, increased risk of pregnancy complications for the woman as preeclampsia. There is, however, better chances of a healthy child and getting pregnant faster with a younger male. But it has no say in adverse pregnancy events, for this is all female age that matter.

  • I’m sure a younger males sperm is more fertile than an older male.. so of course you’ll have a better chance of getting pregnant by a younger man.

    • That’s good for me if that’s true as it’ll improve my odds of getting pregnant

  • Younger men have the advantage of frequency and quantity.

But I think sperm counts are actually going down across the board according to the studies below.

    • I guess being able to go more rounds does make younger men more fertile in that you’ve got more chances at any given ovulation period. The second article was all over the place (and even admitted any of it’s conclusions may or may not be accurate due to how the studies were conducted) but there was one study that concluded men under 30 had a fairly greater amount of fertility in their Soren then men over 40 (which is good news for me). At the very least (according to that article) younger men’s sperm is as fertile as older men’s, if not more fertile

  • There are some statistics that show that men under thirty can easier impregnate ladies above 35. Ladies up until 25 can be easily impregnated by any man independent of age. Not sure what the real perceptual figures are, seems in any case that male fertility also goes down with age, just not as harsh as female.

    • Good to know. That’s encouraging for me. I’ll look up the info. Thanks!

    • Was an ‘interesting’ statistical group. Send me a DM if you want the link.

  • Not true. While it’s true that fertility in men declines with age, it’s not a very steep decline until you’re very old.

    • But is it steep enough that there would still be a significant fertility advantage of having a younger guy to impregnate a 40 year old woman as opposed to a guy her age or older?

    • Not significant, no. It might mean you have to try a couple times more. In itself it’s not a strong reason alone to favor a younger partner.

    • My partner already is younger. I just heard that it’s easier for older women to get pregnant with a younger partner and I wanted to find out if I could confirm it was true. Knowing doesn’t really do anything practícale, but if it’s true it could give me more confidence about my chances and if not I’m no worse off anyways

  • Nahhh, not way better. Possibly marginally better if he’a healthy and has a higher count. Varies from man to man.

    • My fiancé is in excellent shape but I’m not sure what his count is

    • Yes I am

  • Actually male fertility should not be an issue up to age 55 or 60, and then it is a marginal decline. Instead of listening to uninformed opinions, do some research for yourself.

  • I actually don't really know, never have looked up the stats for that but going off my knowledge I would say maybe yes, but it most likely isn't that much of a difference to make it exceptional, maybe a couple of percentages off. Men don't really lose their fertility rate that much and if they do it's usually up until late years like 40-50 maybe, but they can still have kids easily compared to women at those ages.

  • Only if she is wearing pink panties when they hook up.

  • Mick Jagger impregnated his 30 something year old girlfriend while in his 70s. That's a fact I will continue to reiterate over the years lol. As far as having kids a guy more or less can have kids till the day he dies if he simply maintains his health.

If you're a dude just take care of yourself

    • He was an exception. Around 40% of couples who have a hard time to get pregnant is due to problems with the man.

    • @This_Is_My_Opinion8 pull the studies that account for meaningful health markers outside age and I'll take it into consideration to the point I made, which is again. If you're a dude just take care of yourself.

  • Sounds like an anonymous female is looking for an excuse to bone a young guy and claim it was for a “higher good”

    • Actually my fiancé and I are trying to have a baby. He’s 15 years younger and I’m wondering if that’ll improve our chances. So no, I’m not looking to bone some random younger guy. Yes, I am asking this anonymously because I know I’ll get a fair amount of rude comments and judgements for asking this question

  • what are you planning 😶

  • Once a woman is 35+ her chances of having a healthy pregnancy without learning disabilities gets very low. And that is assuming she was healthy, didn't do drugs in her past or much alcohol. If she did those things she can have messed up kids even if she is in her early 20s.

    • I know the chances are lower, but I don’t think they’re that low

    • They seriously are. Take a couple biology and statistics classes. 15 to 20% chance of getting pregnant after 35. And that is if she wasn't a party person that did drugs or drank much alcohol. If she did that the chances decrease in her 20s. And after age 35 the chances of having a kid with a learning disability more than double. If she used substances the chances increase 5 times. Healthy men chances of impregnating starts decreasing after age 55. Theirs is gradual. About a 30 degree angle of decrease. Women's decreases at a 65 to 70 degree angle after 35. But men need to realize that if they do drugs or drink heavy they also have high probability of creating kids with learning disabilities, or kids that need glasses by the time they are 3 years old.

  • fertility decreases in men by about 5% after 35 and 10% after 45. And that's it. So if you're having a hard time getting pregnant then the man has other issues like maybe a health problem or something or you are no longer very fertile yourself.

    • For what it’s worth we started trying not that long ago. I think I’m fertile as I still have regular periods and a healthy sex drive, but I am meeting with a fertility doctor just in case

    • are your intentions to get pregnant with anyone, with a man specifically much younger? If so does he know about it?

    • My intentions are to get pregnant via my fiancé (who is younger than me). He is fully aware of all this

    • Show All
  • Yep, younger men have higher sperm counts, higher sex drive, and usually more ejaculate, good luck!! :)

    • Great

  • I think a middle aged woman made this up.

    • You’re not wrong. I’m 40 years old

    • YAHTZEE!

  • I would think she has less chance of being pregnant because she isn't fertile anymore obviloulsy as the saying goes she has changed life.

    • I’m actually 40 and still have regular periods. I know my chances aren’t as high as when u was in my 20s, but I heard from somewhere that younger men are a lot more likeky to get older women pregnant. Since my fiancé is 25 I’m trying to figure out if it’s true (I hope it is, but it may not be)

    • Wow , ok

  • Depends on the guy dopey. How many sperms he has. Not how old he is.

  • It happens. 18M with 40F. Then after I year or two depends on their compatibility sex should slow down with them. It’s better to have kids in 20s then up to 50s or higher

    • What about a 25M 40F?

    • Something

  • My mom got pregnant aged 46 from a younger guy who is 35. She had dated him for a couple months.

    I hope this helps.

  • It is almost irrilevant the male's age before 50.

  • the lies that post-wall women tell themselves to cope.

  • Msybe I heard middle aged are more fetile and younger guys have better swimmers usually.

    • I heard that too, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s true (and if it is true how true it is)

  • I’m not sure
