Lately I started sucking my girlfriends tits when I’m either depressed or really stressed out, it relaxes and calms me down but I’m wondering am I weird? She’s totally fine with it she even said it relaxes her too it started a week ago I was really depressed and we were snuggling and and I just felt like I needed to, I was wary of asking her but I did and she totally understood and had no problem with it I was honestly surprised because she lifted her top up almost straight away when I asked her, I just feel like I need it am I weird?

Nipples are basically made for newborn to feed and not so much adults to play with them. I am not sure whether you are doing a favor to your girlfriend because sucking nipples is indicative that you have a deeper rooted psychological issue related to insecurity.

Newborn feel secure when they breastfeed because of the proximity to their mother and the close contact to the person that was closest to them for 9 months.

Sigmund Freud would have seen an issue of some kind related to maternal love and you finding comfort by the breast of your girlfriend would suggest that you have an issue, perhaps an Oedipus complex. It is worth investigating this issue with a specialist.

I agree that this is unusual (but not so much!) but please let’s not suggest it’s unhealthy. And I agree with @grond21 that it’s not a good idea to bring Freud and psychoanalysis in the context, as those ideas are outdated. I still believe there is a connection to maternal symbolism in the act. The suggestion is pretty strong. I just wouldn’t take it as unhealthy.

@SueShe I rejected your answers specifically because they didn't make sense. As @PenkWing pointed out, there is a maternal purpose to nipples, and there may be some analogy or psychological connection with what the OP is doing, but then you took it to a place that didn't make sense, with judgments that seemed unfounded.

I do not think it is weird. Were you by chance breastfed as a baby/toddler? The body remembers even if the mind forgets. And sucking on a breast can be a naturally calming activity that most of us learn from the day we are born. It’s not sexual, it’s a loving, nurturing, caring, calming thing.

As I mentioned in a reply, this is certainly just a bit unusual but not so much. And it’s likely that the kind of comfort that you find is in reference to symbols of maternity. I don’t think that in itself is an issue or weird, unless it causes you other problems. As long as both you and your partner are fine with it, feel free to enjoy!
