  • Really, it depends on your mental health to begin with! It's not going to cure someone who's already in a mental institution! How do I know this? LOL I have been in a few—to visit!!!

I think it's a little like sipping on your favorite drink, or eating your favorite ice cream. Sure, it's great for mental health even if it is quite temporary!

  • Yes it can for sure, an orgasm releases Endorphins into the brain which are opioid neuropeptides and peptide hormones, not only do they make you feel good but they also help to combat pain. It also releases Serotonin which is a feel good neurotransmitter, similar mechanisms are used in anti depressants to increase the amount of active Serotonin in the brain by stopping it's reabsorption, to enhance good and stable moods.

Most Helpful Girls

  • Yes it can help. It's something chemical when one orgasms and it can make one feel higher vibration.
Maybe there are some people who have bad feelings related to masturbation, but in general it brings good feelings.
I masturbate sometimes when I am stressed and it helps with the stress.

    • It really does help—I don't care what so-called experts say about how it "rewires your brain." Catch is that it can be addictive... just like every other stress reliever.

  • For me it does help but only temporarily. Working out or actual sex also help and the effects last a bit longer than just masturbation.

    • I always end up feeling guilty after masturbation. Not sure if it is the religion forced onto me as a kid, the fact that I watch porn to help or what.. but afterwards I want to cleanse myself and what other devices I've used

    • I think that’s just post-nut clarity, when you’re super horny your mind gets clouded by all the lust and you pretty much lost your common sense. I used to also feel guilty (bcs of the religion thing as well) but now to let it go as it’s just a way for me to relieve stress and get to know myself

    • Thays a very clear way to analyze that. I've always encouraged my partners to masturbate, find out what feels right, how do you like to be touched. It helps out the relationship in my eyes. And also if you're horny why not be able to go take care of it... ? You're not always with a partner.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • It feeds the brain endorphins which are pretty much opiates for the brain.

too much masturbation and you get addicted and also if you do it via porn, each session needs a bit more and a bit more to get that same rush.

    it’s a slippery slope.

    • Very true

  • It does cause the brain to release endorphins. It also is a good stress reliever.

  • Oh man if that was the case why did I have the worst possible depression during the pandemic? I masturbated daily and it didn't make a change. So yea no 🤷‍♀️ it's temporary stress relief at best
