  • When I was younger, namely when I first attended college, I believed foot fetishes were weird, mainly because I viewed feet as body parts that were completely irrelevant to sex.

However, when I began dating a guy with a foot fetish shortly after, my opinions on foot fetishes slowly changed, mainly because I learned my feet served as erogenous zones during sex. During sex, my then boyfriend preferred to have sex with me while I lied on my back with my feet resting on his chest or atop his shoulders. From this position, he would caress my soles and suck my toes while having sex with me, which provided me extra stimulation. Ever since, I developed an interpersonal respect for guys with foot fetishes. As for my theory to why I believe some men are attracted to women's feet, I believe foot fetishes are a result of "artificial" sexual dimorphism for lack of a better word. Sexual dimorphism refers to sexual differences in living organisms with genders, which could be divided into primary and secondary sex characteristics. Primary sex characteristics represent sex/gender features that are exclusive to males and females, and secondary sex characteristics represent sex/gender features that are mainly the result of male and female hormone differences. For example, male and female genitals are examples of primary sex characteristics because a penis could only be found on men and a vagina can only be found on women, and men typically being taller than women, having deeper voices than women, and women having breasts are secondary sex characteristics because albeit these features might be extremely common with one gender, taking the opposite gender's hormones could potentially change these features.

In relation to foot fetishes, I believe that women typically having smaller feet than men, combined with the fact women tend to pedicure their feet, paint their toenails, and accentuate their feet and painted nails with sexy open-toed shoes that show off their feet, they create an effect similar to natural biological sexual dimorphism. In other words, such actions create a clear difference between male and female feet in a sexy way. For instance, it would be extremely rare to notice a man with smaller feet than average donning painted toenails and exposing his toes in sexy heels or sandals. Thus, people are more likely to view a man's feet in a completely different and less attractive way. Because people are primarily attracted to sexually dimorphic characteristics on the opposite gender, men that pay the most attention to this difference between men and women's feet are likely to become more attracted to women's feet, and if such an attraction becomes intense enough, it can develop into a fetish. It's not much different to why men are often attracted to a woman's butt despite both men and women having one. A woman's butt is often much more shapely than a man's butt and women typically dress in a sexy way to accentuate it. One can argue that the same thing exists with some men and women's feet.

  • When people like @tiffany_taylor_made use "big words" in trying to make their point, it means they don't know how to write. ""artificial" sexual dimorphism for lack of a better word?" Give me a break. There are 50 better words. And then you have to make that point over and over again because you weren't at all clear the first time.

Also uses the word "gender" wrong, it is not interchangeable with "sex," as most people think.

    • Lol, interesting. Are you the asker? Anyway, what "big words" am I using? Surely you don't think "artificial" is a "big word?" Am I really using big words, or do you just have a weak vocabulary? I'm not using "big words" to make my point. My point is based on men's attraction to sexual dimorphism in women and the things women do with their feet being similar to natural sexual dimorphism. I used the term "artificial" because toenail polish and accentuating feet with footwear like heels and sandals aren't natural, but they still establish a difference between male and female feet. It's sensible some men are attracted to those differences, whether natural or not. The opposite of "natural" is "artificial." I also didn't repeat my point. Instead, I provided several examples and explanations so potential readers, including those that oppose foot fetishes, could understand my reasoning. As for gender and sex not being interchangeable, that's not exactly true. The words sex and gender are primarily used interchangeably. "Gender" is defined as "either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones." The "especially" part means that the social and cultural aspects of "gender" are not required in its definition. "Sex" is defined as "either of the two categories (male or female) into which most organisms are divided." Thus, if one chooses to use the definition of gender that doesn't involve the cultural and social aspects, they can be used interchangeably in a broad sense. Still, women preferring to paint their nails and wear certain footwear to accentuate their feet compared to men can be described as a "gender" difference based on the sociological aspect of the definition because they're not biological.

  • Why do people have any fetishes? I consider feet relatively mild on the spectrum of fetishes.

  • I don't get it too. I think feet are the most disgusting part of the body
