The reason for this is that it used to be illegal to show pubic hair in adult material. When that law was changed there was a huge reversal and suddenly it was bush galore.

I see that this has had no answer for an hour. When I was a young man, women in the United States shaved their legs and underarms, and nothing else. There were a handful of porn stars who shaved, but otherwise, it was unknown.

The first woman I was with hadn't shaved, which only made that "region" even more mysterious to an inexperienced boy. Honesty, it really was kind of scary down there.

The following is based only on my own experience: nearly all American and European women are shaved or trimmed. American girls are shaved, though not waxed- Latina girls wax, while Euro babes really like the "landing strip", which I think is super sexy.

In Asia, Thai girls tend to be shaved, while Vietnamese girls, especially those in the north, aren't shaved at all.

In germanic speaking european countries it is partly true. Shaving was not a thing when i was a kid. It was absolutely normal to not shave in austria, germany etc till we get the American trend. I still see many millenials who do not shave. I remember how normal it was that women went swimming without shaving themself. In my experience men in their 40-50s still prefere not shaven women while men under 40 prefere shaven women.
Young women tend to shave themself since media influenced us lol. We see how much media influenced us.

My experience is that it is very common to shave in Europe. Maybe 10-15 years ago it was even more common than now, but still the vast majority of women 18-40 do shave, the ones who don't fully shave still shave partially, like a landing strip or triangle, and they trim. I guess it's maximum 5-10% of the women between 18 and 40 who keep it more or less natural.

I believe that it's more common in Asia to keep pubic hair, although Asia is much more culturally diverse. In islamic countries, probably most women will remove their pubic hair because of religious reasons, while in Eastern Asia it's probably more common to keep pubic hair. Impossible to say anything in general which is valid for all of Asia.
