Would YOU call this a "voluntary interaction" in this hypothetical scenario (x-rated)?

You crash onto an island and you and another guy are the only survivors. The other guy wakes up long before you do and gathers up all the islands coconuts, puts them all onto a pile with a fortified wall surrounding it from the plane wreckage. He declares that this is his pile of coconuts and you may have some ONLY if you throat his penis. Would you call this a "voluntary interaction?"

You can say no of course but you won't eat and eventually starve to death as there is no other sustenance on the island. The guy also happens to have a gun to shoot you should you try to steal any while he's sleeping or taking a dump or something lol.

  • Coercion isn't voluntary. There are a lot of very fine lines and nuance whenever you talk about consent, sex and rape, and this is one of them. It's a slippery slope to say this isn't coercion, because then what the hell would be, suck me off or die is pretty coercive. It's easy to say 'well okay so you can't offer anything in exchange for sex, because that's rape' but then you need to consider sex workers. As long as they are consenting adults who entered the industry of their own free will and make their own rules then yes, in someways it's coercion, but if they're willing... But then again, if a client does something the sex worker did not consent to do then again, it's rape, but for a different reason that's not coercion.

It's all very messy and very complicated and consent is not easy or clear or simple and anyone who says it doesn't, doesn't know shit about consent. I wish it was easy. I really do because that would save a lot of people (men and women) a lot of pain. It's why it's so hard to make laws about rape because they can easily fall into too lenient or too strict and often times they're never enacted in ways that are helpful or accountable.

    • Possibly the only time Rush Limbaugh was right about anything, but only because he didn't recognise it:

If your choice is life or death, it's coercion, if it's an OK life or a better life, not so much. The grey zone is in the middle, somewhere.

  • I wouldn’t even say that I was “technically free”! “You get to use my body however you like, OR I die of thirst, or starve to death”! How is that even remotely “free” it’s rape! It is similar to your boss saying “suck my cock or you’re fired” except it’s SO MUCH WORSE! With a job in an established society, technically you can just get another job, but in the island metaphor, there ARE NO other “jobs” ie coconuts! So it’s “throat his cock” or die! That’s just RAPE!

  • I would consider this particular case an example of coercion.
I differentiate between coercion and own volition on the basis of whether the person is acting out of pursuit of self-benefit or on the grounds of self-preservation.

For example, if someone offers you gigs in Hollywood for sucking them off, it doesn't constitute coercion.
You are not being deprived of your existing well being by rejecting that offer, so it cannot be considered as acting under duress.

If someone tells you to suck them off because they will fire you otherwise, that's when it becomes coercion.
Because in that case you are not pursuing benefit, you are acting against your judgement for the sake of self-preservation.

  • I would kill the guy while he is asleep. It does not matter if he has a gun he has to sleep at some point. Therefore he dies.

    • so actaully yeah there is a choice.

    • He also has trip wires with pots and pans he found from the wreckage so even if he does sleep he will hear you. Now what?

    • I would cut them or go around them or something? There is always a way, he would have to kill for sure so i don't do anything to him. It's kill or be killed. And if he is just gonna ask me to suck his dick and worry about that, highly likely i shall be the one killing.

  • An island, right? Which means there's water nearby, for drinking and also water creatures for food, so I'd tell him to shove them coconuts up his a$$😊

  • Give a few regulars bjs at first to gain his trust then sink your teeth in. Totally voluntary of course.

  • The guys a dick. And gonna be a lonely dick. I’d tell him to enjoy fondling his coconuts, grab a stick, sharpen the end, jump in the ocean, and lay in wait to spear a fish. My first taste of sushi.

  • so you're trying to force an answer from me... in order to prove coercion is a thing...

    very very smart

    • you can choose not to answer lol

    • I like irony

  • No that's coercement but I hate coconut anyway 😂

  • I don't know but the word coconut reminded me of a very good song Σ(TωT)

  • Nope that's not voluntary. That's coercion but if that's the only way I can survive and not starve I have no choice but to do what he asks

  • That is absolutely coercion!!! So is refusing to drive her home unless she puts out.

  • No that is coercement. I'm technically free but I need to eat to survive.

  • Agree then kill him, eat him and then eat the coconuts just to spite him

  • I would figure out how to kill him. May be find a big boulder and smash his head to a pulp before he gets a chance to pick up his gun.

    • nope thats not the question here. whats your answer to the question?

    • Well, it is coercement and that is how I would react to it. Either he dies or I die.
