There are few things that a doctor will be looking for while having a stethoscope up to your chest, firstly it's the heartbeat but secondly is to see how you are breathing, where you are breathing from, stomach or chest, and listening to your breathing in time with the movement of your body as each breath is taken. These days it is normal for a child to have a chaperone whether that be a female nurse of a family member although the preference for the chaperone to be a medical professional, as standard practice can often be mistaken for inappropriate behaviour. That is not to say that inappropriate behaviour doesn't happen, after all doctors are human.

This mf didn't give me enough anesthesia although they said “anesthesia on”. I counted backwards from 100 and was out by 81. A moment later i hear “pass the scalpel”. I jumped up and said “WAIT IM STILL AWAKE!” All the docs freaked out screaming “Get this girl another dose!!”

When I went in for a check-up after having a baby. The Dr. unbuttoned my shirt, then listened to my heart, then asked about my breastfeeding, if I had enough milk. And I said yes. And at that time, I was leaking milk. He gently squeezed my boob squirting milk, and he kept squeezing, then he squeezed my other boob squirting milk, and he squeezed it several more times, then said you have plenty of milk.

In your case he was probably looking to make sure the stethoscope was in the correct place, and watching for any visible pulse. And doctors often fix their gaze on something so they are not distracted while listening to the sounds in the stethoscope. Lots of variations they have to liesten for.

I had a doctor give me a physical when I was younger for sports.
