Do females of other species give consent to the male one to mate with?

I am wondering why if humans do the same as what the other animals do and basically follow the rules of nature, it’s considered as rape, and not the natural process of reproduction?
I want to know if women are the only species that give consent?

  • There is a species of insect where the male evolved special hooked legs to faciliate raping females. As far as other animals, it's really alpha male jealousy that stops other males from having sex with the female. In other species like birds, males have to impress the females.

  • for example a rooster is a rapist then he climbs on every chicken he finds😄

  • Some. Consider the porcupine- rape just isn't happening there. And they have some... unpleasant mating rituals. Probably best to just take my word on that; don't say I didn't warn you if you choose to look into it. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have ducks. A HUGE amount of duck sex is forced; the numbers of read can actually top 50%- but then, I have no way of knowing whether it's true.

  • Sure, a lot of species have so-called mating rituals, which are basically the way they communicate their mutual intention to mate. A whole lot of other species have rape, too, and it can be as traumatic as it is for humans. Nature is complicated.

  • 19 and never taken any kind of biology class huh?

    • I want to know what people think not about what I have learned or not.

  • Yes sort of, many species the males will do some sort of fight/competition/dance and the females will choose the winner and grant them permission to mate with them.

  • Wow , you must have a lot of free time, because this question is so dum (and yes I purposely spelled it wrong)

  • I believe that's a fairly accurate assessment most of the time. I would have to look into Ants and bees a bit more and also certain groups of Chimps and Hyenas. All of these are or tend to be Matriarchies.

  • You ever watch lions mate?
A lioness doesn't let any lion just use her, she gives consent.
    Go YouTube lions mating.

  • No. Animals aren't human. Animals react and live off instincts to survive and reproduce.

  • In general it's the male that has to attract females. Humans are unique as usually females try to attract males.

  • Are you saying you want to be taken

  • Well if you look at the black widow she is consensual but then kills her mate. Let’s hope human females don’t follow suit.

  • They do not by saying but by other ways

  • Hey, have you heard of black widow spiders? The females eat the male spider after mating. It doesn't mean a lady can eat up a man after having sex with him. And also many of the animal species (mostly marine) eat their own young ones. And yeah.. it's not okay to kill your children. So, we should stop comparing ourselves to animals. We're way different than them.

  • If you're asking if there are female animals that do the chasing and competing for males, there are VERY few. But for the most part, it's the males that compete for females.

I'm not sure there are any rapes in the animal kingdom. Maybe?

The domestic cat is the only example I can think of that may seem like rape, mostly because the sex is painful to the female. But! I think sometimes a male will pursue a female that may seem like she's not in heat (probably because she's already raising a litter), and she will try to fight him off. One might look at that and think THAT'S rape, but then the female eventually starts giving in and actually wants to mate! Now how did that happen? Maybe she was testing him? Animals are simple creatures anyway.

But we humans are kind of complicated...

You know how in most bird species, the male bird is the flashy, colorful sex, while the female is a more plain color? It would make sense that the male, being beautiful, would flaunt himself in order to attract the female... Still, it is the female that will ultimately have to consent.

With humans, the female is considered to be the "flashy and colorful," yet it is STILL the males that are the ones that typically make the first move, and she has to consent. Weird, huh?

Men and women are not the same. <--- (this is sadly a controversial statement in our culture, by the way)

Men are more biologically driven to take risks, and women are more cautious and reserved... so naturally, a man has to work to convince the woman that he is fit, he is trustworthy, and that he will provide for her.

  • Sometimes it makes me mad that women are normally the ones that have the final say when it comes to having sex the reason why is because us humans solely don't have sex just for reproduction
