I just got the birth control implant. I'm quite paranoid about it. Can my boyfriend ejaculate inside of me without condoms, etc?

I got it this morning. Little scared. Should I still use condoms? Morning after pill?

(the thought of my boyfriend ejaculating sounds so nice but I mean, is the implant going to suffice?)

Superb Opinion

  • All birth control has a failure rate but the implant is around 99% effective. It’s not like the pill where if you forget a pill or take it late, you could have an “accident”. It’s already in your body working. The implant is extremely effective. I remember my doctor telling me to use an alternate method for the first week after I got it inserted and then I was protected after that. We quit using condoms and my boyfriend cums in me all the time and we’ve never had any kind of pregnancy scare. That being said, some people fall within that 1% that fails. If it gives you peace of mind, you can always use a secondary method just in case. I know some couples who still use condoms or have him pull out just for added protection. Do whatever makes you comfortable. It’s your body.

  • Your gynecologist should have/be able to tell you how long you need to wait until your birth control is effective.

It usually is a week or two, depending on method, before it is considered full effectiveness. If you are still in that timeframe, YES have him wear a condom.

  • Just like other BC like the pill if it is started or fitted within the first 5 days of your cycle you are protected immediately but if it is fitted after this you will not be protected for 7 days and will need to continue using alternative BC. Also just like every other BC it is not 100% effective, no BC is, they are about 99% effective.

  • In a word YES , Let him come come come inside , thats the entire point of it , so much better going bareback than wearing a raincoat , bareback in the only way.

You will not have a problem :)

    • Thank you and lol. I agree.

  • That would be scary wouldn't it I can understand where you're coming from what did the doctor say about it I never heard anything about those

  • its not effective straight away so may be a couple of weeks before its safe to have unprotected sex... can't see why your doctor didn't explain this though

    • No no, he did. Just so many factors to take into account, articles, youtube videos that say otherwise. I was obviously way too paranoid as I asked this question but I feel more confident now. Thanks!

    • well im an auto engineer who has built cars for 40 years but i still get people ignoring my advice about cars and instead buying a fiat coz a mate said they look cute then they wonder why the have a car that is constantly breaking down... listen to your doctor

    • Useful haha. Thank you for the example and advice :)

  • They should have explained all that to you when you were scheduled for the implant

    • He did. I think I was way too paranoid as I asked this question.

    • Scary part is if you get information here and then you become pregnant

    • That's another thing to consider lol.

  • Implant?
As in something inserted under your skin, like on your arm or are you talking about an IUD?

    • The implant that's inserted into your arms.

  • Yep, they can cum inside unprotected no problem. The implant slowly releases hormones into the body. Almost like the hormonal IUD in a sense.

  • Yes, that's the general idea of birth control, lol.

    • Thanks! I guess I was just so paranoid.

    • Sure, you could also ask him to wear a condom. That should make you feel worried.

    • Yup! Thanks!

  • There are 3 things that are 100% effective at preventing pregnancy, while sttill actually having sex, the implant is not one of them

  • Yes he can. there is no problem.

    • Thank you!

  • Do you mean the IUD? I think it depends on what your doctor said but to be safe you should wait at least a week especially if it’s the hormonal form of BC/IUD

    • The implant that goes into your arm. Thank you! I am going to wait 7 days.

    • Ohh I see, yeah I think it’s best to wait for a bit. Better safe than sorry haha
