A prostitute is someone who has sex for money - but more than that, someone who has sex with people they normally wouldn't choose to have sex with, but are doing it anyway to get money.

A slut is someone who is promiscuous - someone who sleeps with lots of partners, even if they are strangers, and sometimes even for reasons other than because they want to (for status, for revenge, for booze or drugs, for invitations to events, etc.). They don't even necessarily enjoy the sex (clearly they do sometimes), but they use sex to get attention, to get guys who otherwise wouldn't date them or spend time with them, and otherwise to manipulate the situation. Sluts often have sex even know that it's going to be unhealthy (mentally/emotionally) for them to do so.

The definition of a slut is NOT "a girl who enjoys sex" - a girl may love sex and have a ton of it with her boyfriend, but that doesn't make her a slut - it's a girl who has sex with many partners and often for reasons other than her wanting to have sex with that person.

Besides money, is there even a difference?

Okay, well I guess you could say a prostitute/escort does what they do to survive and not die on the streets, while a slut does what they do for pleasure. I don't mind sluts per se, but what they do should not be condoned, as STD's and unwanted pregnancies are no joke. That's why "slut shaming" exists. You know, besides the Catholic church and having respect for yourself. Sluts cause harm to society when they spread STD's around and get pregnant and undergo abortions.

I don't consider a girl who just likes a lot of sex, but sticks to one partner at a time and always uses protection, to be a "slut." A slut has no regard for her health and safety and would be willing to sleep with married/attached men, so there's a difference.

A slut is a term for women who enjoy sex and is not ashamed or cowered by it. Something which is very hard for the society to digest as it is conditioned to believe that a woman enjoying sex the way man do is somehow deviant.
There is no male equivalent of that term.
A man getting it with multiple woman is a stud. A revered term.. worn like a badge.

A prositute is a gender neutral term for a person who sells sex for money.

The difference? Slut is a social construct. Prostitute is not. It's an occupation. One of the oldest professions of the world.

A slut is a girl who is easy but free. A prostitute costs money but you can do anything you want to her. That's why I like getting a prostitute and being as rough and degrading as I can.
