Would you trust a former sex worker to provide for you in a medical or psychological occupation? Why or why not?

Let's just say you have a 30 year old woman as your therapist or psychologist. Or nurse. Or dentist. And she reveals to you she used to be a porn star. Or a stripper. Or an OnlyFans girl. They are new to this current occupation and have been doing it for six months. They are very pretty with big breasts and you wouldn't think of them as having been a sex worker, but once they admit it, you can now see it'd make sense.

Would you trust them to provide you with psychological or medical service? Why or why not?

Inspired by a video I saw online.

However, I'll reveal this: My first counselor was this 5'11" all-pink wearing super-girly-girl mid 20s blonde named Jessica. Only on our last session together did she reveal she used to be a stripper for one year. I didn't care, but I also wasn't surprised, looking at her.
Yes, I'm fine with that. / I don't care.

As far as you finding out the information, let's just say you Googled her on your own and found the information yourself online. Then you asked her about it the next time you meet up and she tells you the truth about her past, but isn't ashamed nor proud of her history.

  • I am under the impression that strippers double as psyciatrists half the time anyway so not only would I be fine with it, it is a career change that makes sense to me.

I don't see the porn star / onlyfans correlation but why not. If anything the only reason I'd question things is that there isn't much need for them to inform me of it. What's the benefit in letting me know I can find explicit material of them online? Wee bit unprofessional.

    • I added extra details to the question. Assume you looked her up online first and that's how you found out. She'd only tell you after you asked her about it and she wouldn't reveal it to you before that.

  • She has life experience like who knows what she went through in life that helped made her choose to be a person to sale her body but later realize that's not the lifestyle she wanted and got her credentials to be a therapist i can't knock that kind of hustle. I would not date her of course tho lol

  • Not really an issue for me, Onlyfans or strippers tend to just show it off, usually.

They have to go to school and get licensed and all that, not sure what her old job would have to do with it.

  • I would not be fine with that... because they're openly being unprofessional disclosing their previous jobs with me for no reason...

    • Wouldn't you rather feel like spending time with a human than a machine that gets the job done?

    • @jaybee281 ... what? i don't need them to tell me they used to be a sex worker... and like i said... be UNPROFESSIONAL to be "spending time with a human"

  • I have a female relative who put herself through medical school working as a stripper. When she wasn't on stage, she could do some studying.

It paid good and she had more days off than a typical job.

  • They'd be educated and trained and liscenced to do any type of medical practice. As long as they treat my health needs with respect, that's all I ask

  • yes, people change and can heal and grow from it. women will use their power to get resources. doesn't mean I'd trust anyone. I'm sure strippers/prostitutes are just people, often with limited choices... playing the cards they've got.

psych health, might be questionable depending upon values.

Contrast that to someone who has good values, book knowledge, and little life experience. Tha may be less trustworthy because they don't know what they don't know.

  • If she or he is a fully qualified professional and good at their job then their past is irrelevant.

  • Did they get the proper training?

  • I think I would be totally fine with it. Who's to say this person didn't study hard in school and happens to be a natural in the medical field? We all know someone, or ARE that person that went to a community college to cut down on the tuition costs, but what if they just found a different way? After the whole onlyfans boom from the covid lockdowns, I think you'd realize a lot more people will do some crazy stuff just to get money to pay bills. I don't think background or the path you've chosen to get to where you are now should reflect negatively on the results you've achieved.

  • Fuck no lol.

  • Yes, I don't think her former occupation defines her competence or work ethics. A lot of people are promiscuous anyways, and no one bats an eye, so who cares

  • Can you get a medical license if you’ve been charged with a crime? Like prostitution? Asking for a friend.

  • No, I wouldn't. Who knows who's she's been with

  • I feel tempted to end a dry spell with an escort but at the same time it's a reminder there's a huge stigma about paying for sex
