Why do women wear such tight-fitting spandex?

Woman wearing spandex
Many women today wear tight-fitting spandex outfits while working out, when shopping for groceries, and just out for a walk. It's very distracting.

Girls: Why do you want to show off the size and shape of your butt cheeks and how thick your labia are? Or maybe you don't realize you're doing that?

Guys: What do you think if your date/SO/wife walks around with tight-fitting spandex for all to see?

The pictures shown are pretty tame. I could have used more revealing pictures but I don't want to give G@G reason to take them down.

WOW... a lot of angry women out there. I wasn't expecting that. :-) I just think it borders on trashy when a woman shows off so much of her body, leaving nothing to the imagination. Yes, I'm an old fart, and maybe that has something to do with it.

  • "It's comfortable"
Yeah and so are loose fitting pants. The reality of the matter is that the women here are dishonest. Either willingly or they themselves don't want to admit it to themselves. The reason why they wear things such as leggings is because it looks good and they know it.

They know it catches the eye of both men and women. This gives them validation. Knowing they look attractive this way gives them the self-esteem boost they want. Also, these type of clothes take away as much imperfections as they can. So it gives the illusion that the body looks better than it actually is. This is ease their insecurities before going out.

But of course they won't admit this and just brush it off as "it's comfortable, we are doing it for ourselves!!!". Yeah, they sure are doing it for themselves. But what they don't tell you is that in order to feel good, they have to know they. In psychology, this is called POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.

Now imagine if men didn't find leggings attractive, you think they would still wear them in the massive? The fashion industry is constantly experimenting and what we see come out and are truly worn are the ones "approved" by men. Meaning the clothes that we see women wear are confirmed to be liked by men. Hence why women wear this in reality for men while competing against other women. This is what we call the sexual market.

  • Because they have no class, taste, nor social decorum. They'll just give the excuse that it's comfortable, that guys shouldn't look, that they think it makes their shape nice. Yet, it makes all the flaws apparent too. They were meant for working out rather than wearing everywhere. Many girls in Europe understand this and think it's hilarious how Brits and Americans go out in them as if they were socially acceptable pants.

Dresses and skirts flatter the shape more but femininity and class has gone out the window ever since the 90's. Luckily I found a woman that thinks yoga pants are trash. She wears 50's dresses and other classy things.

    • Lol you have angered the wahmen of G@G. Because deep down they know you're right, but by disliking comments like this, they can continue to delude themselves out of wishful thinking. My girl wears leggings only in the gym when we go work out together. And in case she goes without me, she still wears them and puts a sweather around her waist to cover her ass. Other than that, she likes to dress vintage clothes from the 40s and 50s such as dresses. She gets far more compliments whenever she goes out than she would if she wore things such as yoga pants. Glad to see a brother who has also managed to find a woman with class.

  • First thoughts, they are far more covering than bathing suits. Second, we’ve all seen men in tight ‘younger sisters’ looking jeans for the last decade.
I’ve never really thought about wearing these out and about myself. Do use them as base layers under riding gear. Mine don’t squash my crotch though. Don’t do yoga. My stretching is in a huge martial arts uniform.
People will do what they feel comfy doing.

    • Good description. Thanks!

  • A lot of girls might block you now Tom; then in another comment section they will say, "I never block anyone."
Now you are not anyone, you are nobody, nothing; see what you've done Tom?
Lol I'm too tired to answer this question seriously. Best of luck to you though Tom @aviatortom

    • Well, if they block me, I'll just block them (the majority of advice I got from Should I block someone who has blocked me? ↗ ) and that'll be one less conversation to have.

It is sad, though, that someone would block me over a legitimate question. I'm not judging, just wondering why women wear them.

  • They are comfy

    • Not for us guys. Sometimes it takes some rearranging. ;-)

    • But you asked women

  • I agree on the distracting part - The only thing I'd add is that I love it

  • It's so you can see our ass and pussy, but then again not really so it is suductively hot

    • Thanks for being honest... or sarcastic.

  • There’s nothing distracting about leggings. You’re just weird and a creep

    • Camel toe isn't distracting?

    • How would you know what is distracting to a guy?

  • Sexy. It’s fashionable right now, I hope they keep wearing it

  • Contrary to popular belief we don't always show off for the pure want of attention. Leggings are comfortable

    • So is nudity though

    • It is. Such as I like to be in my own apartment m

    • That’s kind of my point, you can wear whatever you want in your own space but in public societal rules start to apply. Wear whatever but I’m bot really for pajamas at the airport or sweat pants outside of the gym. Depends a lot on the local climate but where I am it’s not socially acceptable to wear a bikini or something outside of a swimming pool, mostly because it’s central PA. Same with leggings, outside of the gym or house

  • You won't see me in those unless I'm working out at the gym, but I won't walk out to my car in those.

    • Most of the women where I live wear those all day and everywhere they go. It's a fashion trend and status symbol. "Look at me, I drink Starbucks and go to the gym." Except a lot of them don't actually go to the gym.

    • Re update: I don't think women realize their white undies show through their black yoga pants.

    • @trueconfection " "Look at me, I drink Starbucks and go to the gym." Except a lot of them don't actually go to the gym." hahahhaa With an outfit like that it is not too hard to tell who worksout and who doesn't.

  • I run around, commando, in sweat pants, and when I see a sight as delightful as THIS my approval of it is quickly telegraphed to her.

    TWO can play that game!

  • She isn't really showing anything.

    • Not in the pictures shown. There are other pictures in which the woman shows pretty much everything. AS I said in my update, I didn't include those because I didn't want them taken down.

    • Not like in a skimpy bikini swimsuit.

    • It's kind of expected at the beach (skimpy bikini), I'm wondering why women wear such tight-fitting clothes in everyday activity.

  • because it’s comfy & convenient🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
maybe focus on urself before trying to police what women are wearing 😑😑

    • you keep wearing those tights, girl!

    • I'm not trying to police anything... just wondering why women wear such tight-fitting clothes.

    • @bean2k21 thankssss!!😊😊

  • I'm pro toe so I don't mind at all.

  • They're comfortable.
Sorry we're not required to wear baggy clothes all the time to hide our bodies for your convenience.

    • You go girl! The human body is nothing to be ashamed of.

  • Well, the stretchy fabric is comfortable, and the tight design means you won't end up getting it caught on anything, nor will they ever fall down.

  • Why do men that don't show their face nor where a shirt in their profile pic feel the need to judge others for what they wear?

    • How about men wearing such tight pants and showing groin bulge?

    • As I've said in many of the posts here, I'm not judging anyone. I just want to know why women wear clothes that show off intimate parts of their body. And many of these posts are asking the same question. As for my profile pic, I prefer not showing my face, and at least it's a pic of me, not a G@G avatar or someone else's picture.

  • They’re comfortable? Guys, especially gym dudes, wear tight shirts and tank tops every where and women can control themselves enough to not let it distract them? There’s no difference you’re just weird.

    • What do you mean by "women can control themselves enough to not let it distract them? "?

  • Says the shirtless faceless profile pic dude…

Men over 40 shouldn’t be shirtless.

See? Tone-policing bodies and clothes doesn’t feel good, huh.

Gawd you flaccid wingnuts are annoying.

  • Why do men feel the need to criticize everything a woman does or wears?

  • Some of these leggings are very comfy.

  • It’s comfy and looks sexy. You even can wear tight leggings with a t shirt. My boyfriend loves these tight leggings too.

  • Maybe because it's pants? For wearing?

I've NEVER heard someone complain about being distracted by clothes with glowing lights on them, clothes with wild pictures and bright colors, crazy hairdos, etc. Nobody says "that's so DiStrActiNg" because unless you have some disorder, you can damn well manage your own attention.

But when it's a woman's body that's distracting, suddenly she's the problem, and she needs to accommodate you. Bitch that's YOUR problem. Check yourself.
