For a long time male beauty hadn't been discussed in our society because it was not consider important to most of us. For centuries the most attractive characteristic a man could have was being wealthy. So... since women didn't make their own money, men made up this misconception that women only like men with money.

However, with the "emancipation" thanks to the industrial revolution, women no longer needed a man with money, and why this is so important? Because after the advent of social media women who were independent started to seek out handsome men, and it became obvious to all of us that male beauty is much more important than we thought.

Why I'm telling you all of this bs? Because some men (specially boomers), still hold this belief that men are attractive for their possessions, and since women like rich men, they say, if you admit that you find another guy attractive you must to be gay because only gays find men attractive in their minds.

I don't see guys from this generation saying that to find another man attractive is gay, most of men I see doing that are boomers or young folks influenced by them. Now thanks to the incel culture, for the good or for the bad, terms like Tyrone, Chad, are spreading out like a virus and it's getting more common to say that you find another guy handsome.

It can be perceived as gay. Depends on the culture. It's common to hug on festival days with buddies in culture I have grew up in.
