  • That would have been illegal here, as a 17-year-old could consent for up to a 21-year-old but not above that.

Even so, age gap not a big deal. I've been with older guys, the oldest was in his 40's when I was 21. Of course it wasn't a relationship, so not sure how that would work out.

  • Some girls are into whole daddy thing with much older men, so probably thats what happened

    • I doubt it

    • I think she just wanted a hot older man

  • If they both were happy, and his daughter didn't mind then I don't see any problem In it,

In this age of advanced technology and unlimited information at hand, I think the age of consent, should be 15-16 years. (If you disagree then do an anonymous poll to determine when people have lost their virginity, I bet the majority will be of those who lost it before 17)

These days children are growing up faster and more maturely than we did.

We didn't have so much information/ knowledge readily available to us until the 90s.

  • Well , if all was legal and the 17 year old was happy , no big deal , little harm done to anyone , dont think it matters.

  • Weakness and opportunity. The man's life is what he makes of it. Because of his approach to life he wasn't set up properly through family, friends and support groups that he took advantage of a 17 yr old who wasn't mature enough to see what was going on and the repercussions from the situation that would present itself sooner or later. It seemed like a good idea at the time but it was not as two people's lives have been psychologically damaged as a result of this and how much damage to their future lives will they endure until they understand how their actions and decisions got them to this point. Its not a temporary fix for a long term problem that sooner or later must be addressed assessed and handled appropriately so as not to cause irreparable damage later in life.

    • How do you know they are damaged?

  • It's not uncommon for women to find older guys attractive. And if they both concent I don't see the problem.
Well.. there's the fact that she's the friend of his daughter.. embarrasing.
Then there might be legal issues depending on where you live.

In the country where I live legal age for sex is 15. But pressure from society won't accept the age-gap until 18 . After about age 21-25 the gap can be pretty wide, at that point it's just two minds meeting. At most 15 year gap without much pressure.

    • That's not what you told me in private

    • Which part? 17 is not all that young I think. Our private conversation I imagined was about younger than 15 or so. Puberty-age. The really questionable stuff.

    • I see, I don't see the difference

  • It’s sad to hear that his wife passed, I don’t see anything wrong with the situation if they both consent to a sexual relationship. However, The 17 year old is not of legal age…that’s a dangerous road to walk. Possibility of her lying and him catching a Statutory rape charge and all that.

  • Except for the legalities of the situation, I don't really see a problem with it. The guy needed some company and the girl fulfilled that need. Plus maybe she had some daddy issues that he fulfilled... just sayin'

  • If she's not being forced, it could reinforce a bond for both their lifetimes.

  • uk it was legal and up to them... the law dictates she was old enough to chose and i have no problem with legal age gap relationships. what about you? whats your take on it? i mean its not like its uncommon here in the uk

    • It's ok

  • I tend to view and stick to the facts. "I don't know how it happened?" - exactly. No judgements, not my business, therefore no opinion. To each their own.

  • I think it's messed up and I see it as statutory rape.

  • 17 is too young. Idc if it's legal he should have waited til she's an adult or found someone who already was.

  • As child abuse.

    • Most 17 year olds can consent to sex

    • There are a number of lines he crossed. he's probably early 30s and she's also his kids friend. Even if she can legally consent doesn't mean it isn't crossing a few boundries.

    • True

  • I’ve had younger girlfriends so I’m honestly going to say I don’t have a issue with it. Emotionally she isn’t ready unless they are friends with benefits

    • They were

  • I can hear the banjos playing in this post

  • It doesn't require thinking.
It was between two consenting adults so let them have their moments of their relationship to treasure.

  • It’s not something I would do or condone.

    • Why not?

    • That's really hypocritical coming from you

  • Can go both ways... I mean his daughter could be a little upset at either one... but he not doing anything really wrong... if anything, he's WINNING!!!

  • I think it's morally wrong based on my morals however my opinion does not matter in regards to two consenting adults that I have no interaction with
