I have seen several cases headed to a couple of state and local lawmakers that will essentially make porn illegal to watch on any device made by Apple, Google, Motorola, and Samsung since they will be held liable for not having a kill-switch for shutting off adult content. If enough states get behind this, they will petition the FCC to remove protections that adult sites currently enjoy. Once those protections are removed from the major adult sites, it will be extremely difficult for them to get approval again. This could lead to the creation of age verification other than just checking a box where the user would have to register with valid ID, not just an email address, to access adult content. This will most likely be the end of underregulated adult content and we will start to see these sites report their stats including the verified users and their viewing history, which is tied to the verified ID used at registration. Obviously, several privacy groups have problems with this but it is but they are finding that since this involves children under 18 that their efforts are being ignored. Since the financial burden will be placed on these sites that provide free adult content, the no charge access will likely be a thing of the past since the new regulations are coming.

  It won’t be banned outright but it’ll become like recreational drugs where you can get heroin and use heroin in certain areas. It’ll be heavily regulated to the point where it won’t be something you can just pull up randomly throughout the day. It’ll involve registration in advance and it will be monitored like prescription drugs.

That's not "banning porn"; that's "insisting on age verification for a single website". Yes, a great many people have sat idly by and let consolidation consume industry after industry, and porn is no exception. It's also an industry with remarkably low production costs; take out one company and three more will spring up to take its place. Try to ban it outright, and your body will be found covered in Hustler-shaped welts.

  I just can't imagine needing to put in a driver's license or wherever on porn sites. A while back they started with a pop-up saying you needed to be 18 or older. Then you just click to say you are. Even if the big named sites start to do it, most won't. I think it's more of the parent's role. They need to know that that stuff exists and that they can block it using their routers, computers, or browsers. Children using technology need to be monitored. It's a huge privacy issue you suggested. I doubt most people would want their legal identification attached to their porn history.

Then a databreach happens (which is actually crazy common). Now your legal name is out there associated with the type of porn you watch. So when you apply for a job, when you're googled, it'll show up. Good luck getting a job as a teacher if you've watched anything with the extremely popular "teen" tag. Or anything remotely roleplaying.

  I'm done with the conversion. Let me just summarize my points tho. 1. It's the parent's job to monitor their own kids, not the government. 2. Websites can be blocked in a variety of ways, all extremely easy. 3. Requiring ID to access porn is extremely dangerous and a major privacy violation. 4. Even if there are laws put into place that require an ID, not every site will follow suit. 5. With the sites that do, they can be extremely easily bypassed, and anyone looking for porn won't stop until they get what they want. I'm open to talk in my DMs to Kyleelyn or anyone else. The First Amendment: specifically, freedom of speech and freedom of the press, would make such bans impossible to enact, or enforce. Even so, the Supreme Court has ruled numerous times that child pornography is NOT constitutionally protected.

In the United States, we are free citizens of a republic. We are not subjects of the crown, nor do we bow to some potentate who place him/herself above others. We hold our rights dear... even rights which may offend.
