Well, there's an awful lot of pornstars to generalize them all one way.
I will say that I have seen a few pornstars, male and female who are actually quite talented. It does take some real work to make an interesting porn clip that will stand out these days. As well as a few women I've seen that are really good at presenting the various fetishes and kinks in a way that's most exciting for the viewers.
Porn is getting more complex these days and there are some really clever, and funny pornstars that I've seen lately. Quite the personalities that never used to exist in porn.

Well, they aren't smart in the sense that they wouldn't make great doctors, lawyers, or whatnot. But they do live fairly luxurious lifestyles and make a lot of money having sex, while many "smart" people sell their soul to a corporation for slave wages in terrible working conditions with unreasonably long hours. well since specially in america, prostitution is a crime, they have extensive research about this and they actually do correlate this criminal behavior with lower intellect. i don't know how you're smarter by just videotaping your prostitution for everyone to see... but yeah. tho i do not agree that prostitution should be illegal. i can see that for women specially in financial tight spots, that's a more compelling option, so it's probably less true for women than for men. actually for professional analysis, there's an ethical argument for why we do not actually research, even though we know exactly that IQ is the best predictor for career success. simply because nobody wants to live in a dystopian future, where your iq score prevents you from being employed.

I think most porn stars are damaged people. I think that can give the impression of them being dumb. Their trauma prevents them from interacting with people like a normal person.

I used to watch Howard Stern and porn stars were regular guests on his show. From what I could tell they all seemed well rounded and fairly intelligent, to the point where I was actually surprised.
