Why do you think old people still have sex? People people in nursing homes and senior retirement homes still do it?

Especially when their hormones have declined a lot, why do you think us humans or just the majority of us are sexual beings until the day we die?

Part of the reason why I made this question is because I'm forever bitter and resentful that I was mostly celibate in my 20s and it makes me even more mad and enraged on the steps or what guys or men have to do in order to get laid or in order to attract women for a sexual relationship, unfortunately it will never change

Superb Opinion

  • Both men and women are sexual creatures, regardless of age.

In a man, hormones don't decline much with age. Men can have strong libidos well into their 80s and 90s. My father was 67 when I was born. Older men have sex because older women are often available (see below).

In women, hormones do decrease after menopause, but any fear of pregnancy is gone and that feeling of freedom makes some women more desirous of sex. Plus, many older women are widows, and no longer have the restriction of marriage on their minds.

I won't name names, but there's an elder living area (people over 50) in one of the Southern US States that has a very high incidence of STDs, because its residents are so sexually active.

    • @aviatortom There is an elder living area that you heard of with a high incidence of STDs? Man those folks need to be wearing condoms! LOL...

    • @AviatorTom Uh, oh. Lol

    • @ArrowheadSW The county officials have actually given the community cases of free condoms... the residents don't use them

  • What do you think? The same reason young people have sex. It feels good. The sex drive never goes away. There's a joke that the big secret of middle-aged parents is how much sex they have since the children left.

  • I'm not sure but good question! I always thought older men don't want sex because their bodies hurt or they have other things to do during retirement. But from my personal experience they always have horny thoughts, they never turn down sex of it's offered and if they are having sex it's like all their stamina issues go away. So I think it's safe to say at least in old men that their hormones don't decline much with age.

    • im 55 in a few days and im as horny as i have ever been ;)

  • It probably feels good and they still love their spouse maybe?

  • It is nice and it feels good?

If you mean why we kept that biological instinct despite not being particularly fertile anymore I'd warrant there just wasn't any manifested benefit in losing it. Losing it didn't make people fantastically better caretakers or anything. It isn't as if older people lack hormones. They might not be running rampant as in the teenage years but they do not stop existing.

  • Because they want to. Seriously, why wouldn't they? It feels good, it's an important social bonding tool, and without it, we wouldn't have the Golden Girls.

  • It feels good, and it is a way of having a closer bond with a romantic partner.

  • its a connection and it feels good. so why wouldn't we?

  • EW I don’t wanna imagine old people fucking😂

    • Likewise

    • Wait until you are say 55. Then you will.

  • Look at the village's in Florida.
    Retirement community, really big.
Has the highest STD rate of anywhere.
That didn't happen watching reruns on TV.

  • Biology. That's all.

  • very interesting question, probably because nature is weird like that

  • Define old

  • Good for them! I hope when I'm old me and my husband are still having sex!
