Why are more women LGBTQ+ than men?
According to the Gallup Poll
9.5% of women, and 5.4% of men labelled themselves as LGBTQ+
Specifically
Homosexuality = 2.6% of men, 2.3% of women
Bisexuality = 2.0% of men, 6.0% of women
Transexuality = 0.6% of men, 0.8% of women
Other = 0.2% of men, 0.4% of women
According to the CDC's NHIS and NSFG
- 7.3% of men, and 20.8% of women have had sexual contact with the same sex
- 90.6% of men, and 76.8% of women are only attracted to the opposite sex, meaning that more women claim same sex attractions
- 95.1% of men, and 89.6% of women reported being heterosexual
- 1.8% of men, and 2.7% of women reported being homosexual
- 1.8% of men, and 7.7% of women reported being bisexual
According to the CDC's YRBSS
Homosexuality = 2.1% male, 2.9% female
Bisexuality = 3.4% male, 13.9% female
Not Sure = 3.2% male, 5.6% female
According to the BBC
"They found that between 2011 and 2019, college-age women had increasingly moved away from exclusive heterosexuality. In 2019, 65% of women reported only being attracted to men, a notable decrease from 77% in 2011. The number of women exclusively having sex with men also dropped between those years. Meanwhile, men’s attraction and sexual behaviour stayed mostly static in the same time frame: about 85% reported sexual attraction to women only, and close to 90% reported engaging in sex exclusively with women."
What we can clearly see is that.
1. Homosexuality is relatively equal between men and women
2. Bisexuality is far more common in women
3. The LGBTQ+ community is dominantly female
4. Women are more likely to have same sex attractions
5. Women are more likely to have same sex relations
