How many of you used a expired condom before? If you have how long has it been expired? What are the pros and cons of a expired condom? Thanks

It's best to be safe and buy a condom. Seriously, if it comes down to it ask each of your friends to borrow $1 and then you'll have $3 or enough to buy a box of condoms. Or, you can go into Planned Parenthood or pretty much any doctor's office to get them. Look for a bowl that looks like it's filled with candy. It usually has condoms in it.

And people wonder why we give out condoms so frequently smh.. because kids don't want to buy them that's why!

I've never used an expired one before but there can't be any pro's but the cons is you can get an std and die or accidentally make a baby

Never.
Expired condoms lose strength and flexibility, increasing the risk they'll break. Any spermicide on the condom will also lose its effectiveness over time. You could still use expired condoms on toys though, but there are no real pros to using an expired one, especially if you want to prevent STDs and pregnancy.

Never heard about that. Perhaps if the spermicide really goes bad it could cause an allergic reaction? Or perhaps some people are even allergic to the spermicide itself? I'm just speculating though.

Spermicide itself is known to be bad for vaginas. It messes up their pH and can cause infections pretty easily if used regularly (more than 2-3 times a week), but I don't know anything about expired spermicide though

But isn't spermicide located on the inside of the condom? If you put the condom on the wrong way it will be exposed to the vagina, so you have to make sure to put it on the right way. I think a lot of people make this mistake. Or you could always buy condoms without it.

I learned about Spermicides in health class in HS and they didn't say it could be bad if used regularly in condoms thanks for heads up @Tatiahna

Did they not mention it could be bad? Or did they say it is not bad? Because I do know that vagina's PH is very sensitive to outside influences and substances. Women should be very careful about what they put down there, even if it's soap, shampoo or whatever.

They mentioned that it was in some condoms and what it does and everything. They really didn't say anything else really. It was a 1 month class for this topic on sex and protection and all of that fun stuff. They covered a lot on protection and birth control but didn't really go in depth on it.

Women that are allergic could have a problem. Messing with the pH balance in general is not a very good idea though.

Never. I would be more worried that I had a condom that actually reached and passed its expiery date without being used. Condoms take so long to expire it really is irresponsible to use an expired one

My friend gave me one cuz i was about to have sex with my gf and needed one. I just now looked at the package today and it was expired over a year ago. thankfully i didn't use it

Seriously, the point of condom is protection. A month overdue is probably okay. It also matters how were they stored. Heat and mechanical pressure can cause them to malfunction prematurely

Condoms are like.50 to a dollar each if you divide up the cost with the box... Im pretty sure extra precaution with that extra.50 cents will cost a lot less than a baby

i didn't know either until i looked on the condom i got from my friend and it expired over a year ago. From all the answers here it can irritate the penis and vagina and cause a rash or it can break and spread std's

I haven't, and I never will. Condoms cost almost nothing. I'd rather run to the store and buy a packet of condoms for a few bucks than spend a lot more money than that on an abortion.

I had used one, she had it with her and it was one of those you get for free at college. She had it in her freshman year, she was a 6th year senior when I used it with her.

It broke.
