Probably because the overwhelming majority of people are this way (especially in terms of gender identification). That said, I'm thankful to live in an area where there's lots of diversity in this regard. It's made me assume a hell of a lot less than I used to.
I think it's just because most people are heterosexual and even more are cisgender. I don't think that people are trying to be insensitive a lot of the times. I'm almost 32, and I've only known one transgender person in my life. It just doesn't occur to me, but if someone falls someplace else on the gender or sex spectrum, I would be receptive to identifying them in the way that they wish to be identified.
I don't know but I do know there are way too many terms for what sexuality someone is. If you're heterosexual you're heterosexual - none of this cisgender shit. If you're not, you're either gay/lesbian, bi, or asexual. Don't go giving names to stuff just so you can feel special lol
Cisgender just means that your gender and sex are on the same page.
I know. But why do you need to call it that? Why must there be a special name? Why can't you just say, "I'm straight." And call it good?
Because the vast majority are. Why do we assume someone wasn't adopted growing up, because the vast majority aren't.
Because the vast majority of people are heterosexual. Why do we assume everyone isn't colorblind? Same reason basically.
Exactly. In this whole fight for the rights of non-heterosexuals everyone seems to have forgotten that heterosexuals are the majority. I don't have anything against people who aren't heterosexual, it's just annoying how the media is shoving LGBT down our throats.
Because most people are.
