Why would a guy text you at 5am if it's not a booty call?

So why would a guy message you at 5am to tell you he has finished work? Baring in mind you make it clear he's welcome to come over or your more then happy to go to his, but turns it down due to the fact he's tired? If it wasn't a booty call why bother messaging at all? You exchange a few messages before heading off to sleep? ( friends with benefits relationship)

Sounds to me like he's proud of his achievement, and wanted to tell someone he trusted. He let excitement cloud his judgement, then realized he was too tired to follow through with sex when you brought it up.
