Why I Restored My Foreskin

Why I Restored My Foreskin

Touchy subject:

If circumcision controversial topic, you can only imagine how controversial foreskin restoration is. Even those who are opposed to circumcision and could never imagine circumcising their children would tell me "its done, just live with it, put up with it, that's the way it is." But who says I have to live with it? At some point I decided to research if circumcision was reversible. Maybe I could do something about it, be more comfortable, feel more whole, and maybe even have more enjoyment.

Finding out about circumcision:

I was quite young when I found out about foreskin and circumcision. My family was nudist, and we had other nudist families over at our house and vice-versa. It doesn't take long to notice when someone else has something different on their body. I asked my parents about it, and they told me that some boys have foreskin and some don't, but didn't tell me how they get that way at first. I felt a little jealous that my friend had foreskin and I didn't, although the only thing I thought it made different was peeing (since he pulled his foreskin back to pee). A few years later I remember the head of my penis becoming irritated and almost raw when I started participating in sports from the constant rubbing on my underwear, and complaining about it to that same friend, who said he never had that issue because of his foreskin. That's also when I found out about circumcision. I was not happy about it. Why would you cut off something that made it so the head of your penis didn't hurt when running around a soccer field?

Puberty:

The thing about circumcising an infant's penis, is that there is no way to tell how that penis will develop during puberty, and how much skin to take off taking that into account. While my high-and tight-circumcision seemed like the "ideal" circumcision pre-puberty, when puberty hit, it turned too tight. I would wake up in pain from nocturnal erections, barely ever able to sleep through the night. I finally complained to my mom about it, and she brought me to see a urologist, who prescribed a steroid cream and told me how to gently stretch the skin on my shaft so my circumcision wouldn't be so tight. After a few months of stretching and applying steroid cream, I no longer had painful erections. I decided to keep stretching some so I would be high-and-loose instead of high-and-tight (This was also right about the point where my family got an internet connection, and I had learned a little bit about circumcision techniques and styles). I joined an online message board of men who were not happy being circumcised, but was never really active on it at the time.

College:

Moving out of the house, away from my parents, for the first time meant I was free to question everything, and did question everything. Having more privacy as well, meant logging back onto that message board of men who were unhappy being circumcised. At the time, I was actively "intactivist" but hadn't yet discovered foreskin restoration. When I saw a post about it, I thought it would be a pricey surgical procedure that would leave more scarring on my penis than the circumcision already left, but I clicked on it anyways. I read that it was non-surgical and just used tissue expansion of your existing shaft and inner foreskin to "grow" a new foreskin. I dug out my old bottle of probably expired steroid cream, and started to restore my foreskin.

Early attempts:

One of the methods that people on the message board were recommending was called "T-Tape" which involved using medical tape, which would be attached to elastic tied further down your leg to put tension on the skin. I tried it. With cheap medical tape from walmart. It did not go well. The adhesive was nearly impossible to get off of my skin, and removing the tape was one of the most painful experiences I had up to that point. I tried just doing the same tension exercises my urologist had taught me when I was 13, but eventually stopped doing anything. I did gain some loose skin on my shaft, which did provide some improvement, especially with masturbation, but I felt like the progress was too slow and I lost interest in it.

Getting serious:

During my Junior year, my girlfriend and I somehow got on the topic of circumcision, and I brought up my opposition to it, and mentioned that I had tried to restore my foreskin before. She didn't know how that worked, so we googled it. That's when I discovered that there were purpose made devices that made restoring way easier, and required no adhesive whatsoever. She convinced me to spend the $70 to order one, and I started up again in earnest.

Why I Restored My Foreskin

It still takes a long time:

It took me three years to achieve glans coverage with my restored foreskin, without the aid of a lampshade-shaped device called a "Your Skin Cone" that I purchased about a year into restoring.

Why I Restored My Foreskin

I still kept at it for a little over a year after I had full glans coverage, as there is no frenulum in a restored foreskin to keep it pulled up over the glans like there is in an intact penis. The "extra" foreskin made inadvertent foreskin retraction much less frequent. It still happens from time to time, but its rare.

The results:

Don't worry, no photos (or sorry no photos if you were hoping for some). I live in a different city now, and my new doctor has no idea I was ever circumcised in the first place. It looks natural, unless you really know what you're looking for. The relief from the constant rubbing of the glans on the fabric of my underwear is worth it alone, but sexual enjoyment has improved quite a bit as well. Before restoring, sex was goal-based. I had sex to get to orgasm. After restoration, sex is all about the journey that leads to orgasm. My girlfriend (who is now my wife) also has said that sex is much more comfortable and enjoyable for her. The increased sensitivity hasn't caused premature ejaculation or anything like that, in fact, being that sex is no longer "goal oriented" if anything I last longer. Masturbation is where the biggest change is noticed, and I'm kinda jealous of all of my intact friends that got to experience this during their hormonal teen years. As a nudist, I also feel more confident in my body, and I personally feel that it looks far more natural and masculine to have a foreskin than not.

Is it for you?

It can be. If you're happy with your circumcised penis, or at least not unhappy with it, then foreskin restoration is probably a lot more work than its worth for you. But if you're unhappy with being circumcised, I highly recommend you look into foreskin restoration. I'm glad I did. Don't let anyone talk you out of it if you want to do it, though. Its your choice to make.

  • Interesting. When I was younger most guys ridiculed the kid with a fore skin. I hadn't been with a guy who was uncurcumsized until my current boyfriend and actually early on in our relationship, I didn’t even know he was “un” because I only saw him when it was hard and the skin pulled back like automatically I guess. After a few months there was a joke in some movie we we were watching and he said he was “un”. I didn’t believe him so he showed me and I can remember having so much fun playing with it. Lol

    • It was watching this scene that the topic came up with my then girlfriend/now wife: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKQGT8Qc8Wo

    • She had never been with an uncircumcised man either.

    • Yet despite having fun with his foreskin, you consistently spread pro-circumcision garbage all over this website. Interesting, to say the least.

  • Oh. THAT'S what you screen name means. Never knew.

Well, I can appreciate why you did it. I think routine infant circumcision is barbaric.

I have nothing bad to say about a circumcised penis. If I like the guy, I'm happy either way. But I do have a slight preference for uncircumcised - just more fun to play with.

    • Yeah, with the constantly red irritated glans during my pre-pubescent days I thought it resembled a matchstick, so I jokingly called it my matchstick.

    • Yes, well, the match-head imagery makes total sense. There was a guy on here asking if he SHOULD get circumcised a couple days ago. I was like "Noooooooooo. Doooooon't dooooo iiiiiiiit!"

    • I try to chime in on those as often as possible- like trust me dude- I've been there- don't do it!!!

  • I have honestly considered this.
But I know that the end of your original foreskin had nerves, does the regenerated foreskin actually share these nerves, or is it just simulated?
Also, does it actually create new skin, or is it just the process of stretching the preexisting skin?
I know you said it was a 3 year process, what was your schedule for using the device?
How did you know when to stop?

    • You don't regain nerve endings that were amputated. It does actually create new skin- tissue expansion generates new skin cells to allow skin to grow. I wore the device after work until bed, whatever time that ended up being, and all day on days I didn't work. When traveling/camping/etc I didn't wear it, I also didn't wear it when going to concerts or other places where everyone is up close and personal. Where to stop is up to the individual. I probably went a little further than some as I wanted some "overhang" when flaccid.

  • I was circumcised as a child too, and even though my cut was fairly loose, I have still lost a ton of sensitivity in my penis. I have wanted to restore for a while, but I just never made the investment. It sounds like it is a good idea though.

    • There's a time commitment to it, but its not like if you try it and don't follow through all the way that there will be an negative consequences, just a looser circumcision, which as I said above was still better than it was before.

    • how much of a time commitment though?

    • Like based on the Coverage Index I'm about a 3.

  • Having had a foreskin all my life, I honestly cannot relate to this. However, I offer a hearty congrats to you all the same.

Although I am an American and of that generation where circumcision was common, my dad was a doctor and even at the time so no medical reason for it. As we are Catholic, our religion also did not requite it and so my brothers and I were all uncut.

We really didn't think about it until we were in the gym locker room where we - pardon the pun - stood out. However, no one ever said anything, even the girlfriend I lost my virginity to at age 16. So it was not an issue.

That said, I can understand wanting to feel "whole" again. Grant that it is not the most important issue that you will deal with in terms of your sexuality, I can imagine that it is a confidence booster. I know that when my current girlfriend saw me naked the first time she had never seen an uncut penis "up close and personal" and she said, "That is sooo hot!!!"

What guy does not want to hear that about his penis? It is silly in its way, but there are evolutionary reasons for that feeling, too. (An erect penis was one of the ways our prehistoric ancestors attracted a mate.) As to physical sensitivity, obviously I have nothing to compare it to, but I would imagine a cut guy would have a sense of having lost some sensitivity.

Anyhow, I was somewhat, thanks to my dad, aware of some of the methods listed here and I give you a hearty congrats for researching this and staying with it. That little boost of confidence and better feeling during sex will, I am sure, make it worth it.

    • Thank you!

    • Not at all and congrats. You deserve a lot of credit for researching this and doing it. I really hope it gives you the sexual confidence and satisfaction you are looking for.

  • Thank you for sharing it was very informative
I always said my sons would not be circumcised I believe it should be their choice it is not my body it is there body I might have created it but once the umbilical is severed they are their own person.

    • That's good reasoning. Wish there were more people that thought that way.

  • So is circumcision just considered bad now? Even though it prevents a bunch of STDs as well as prostate cancer?

    • I lost almost all of my sensitivity because of my circumcision. I barely enjoy sex because of it. Circumcision might prevent UTIs, but I don't see how it would have any bearing on the other STDs, and especially not the Prostate.

    • I'm sure there are reasons to circumcise, but they certainly haven't worked out for me.

  • Awesome post, thanks for sharing and for the education. For those struggling, do some foreskin stretching exercises once a day and things will loosen up nicely down there…. just find some good ones online and do them every day. And it’s a good move to use a penis health crème with Vitamin E to not only protect your penis skin from irritation but to speed up the process.. hydration is key here. You can get a crème online… good luck.

  • Not a male, but I can relate to you. I got my clitoral hood removed when I was baby and I know the raw feeling of underwear of these sensitive parts. It really sucks. People do think sometimes without thinking how it can feel uncomfortable in daily life. Glad to hear your restoration went well.

    • Why?

  • I'm probably going to sound stupid asking this, but I just simply don't know. What is the difference between being circumcised and uncircumcised? Apart from the obvious missing foreskin. Sorry for my idiocy.

  • You learn something new every day. I have never once in my life thought of foreskin restoration or even heard of it.

    /)_-

    • That's the beauty of this site, seeing different perspectives and learning new things.

  • This is why your urine sprays when you pull your foreskin back. The meatus rubbing on diapers and clothing can cause it to develop a spraying effect. I talked at length with a pediatric urologist about my older son’s hypospadias and she told me about the botched circumcisions she fixes every day.

  • That was an interesting informative read. Thanks.

As far as family nudism, is that even legal?

    • Depending on where you are, it is absolutely legal. There are designated nude beaches, a lot of private nudist clubs, and of course its legal in private homes. There are also places like hot springs and public saunas where nudity is normal.

    • I have been topless at a beach once before, to try it out, but I was later very unimpressed as a guy mentioned said he "noticed" my boobs and was flirting (when my boyfriend was in the bathroom). I don't think men can detach from sexuality like that. That's why having children in that situation would freak me out completely knowing how many pedo predators are out there. A segregated women's hot springs in Japan was fine for me, I didn't have a problem with that. There were no stares or problems.

  • This is cool, my spouse wants to regrow but it is very time consuming

    • Yeah. It took a lot of time to get to where I am, and I still am working at it to get more consistent coverage.

  • That fucking picture.

    • Its difficult to find images for this topic that are eye catching and not against the terms of service. I challenge you to find one lol!

    • Please don't make me google this.

    • I'll leave that decision up to you.

  • I thought that it was impossible

    • Its not a perfect replacement. The rigid band at the tip of the foreskin, along with the frenulum, and any lost nerve endings, are not restored. But in my opinion a restored foreskin is better than no foreskin.

    • totally agree with you, especially if this is so important

  • Actually... priapism is exactly what happened to my son BECAUSE had foreskin. He couldn't pull it back and so when he tried it got raw and irritated and when he accidentally got erect it was painful. This changed when he got older, but as a little boy, I often wondered if we should have him circumcised post hoc.

    • There's a difference between circumcision for legitimate medical reasons and circumcision for cosmetic or "cultural" reasons. How did you resolve the issue? Or did it resolve on its own?

    • Thankfully it resolved on its own. He had to take a steroid cream just like you.

    • People its perfectly normal for skin not retracting in boys until a certain age it corrects itself.

  • Good luck. But i like my circumsized unit

  • Woah this is so powerful. I never really thought about circumcision as a choice. I suppose circumcision can happen later in life if he wants it, otherwise, when I have a son of my own, I'll let him decide when he is a teen if he wants to be circumcised

    • That's great! Choice is important. Make sure your son has the information needed to make an informed decision when that choice is given to him. I have a friend circumcised as a teen who chose it just because that's how all his friends were and thought women preferred it that way, but regrets the decision now, and wishes he had researched it more before he chose to get circumcised.

    • @matchrestore you bet I will!

  • Well you seem to have a deeply motivated drive...

  • That's a great journey, and yeah uncut is definitely better.

    • Thanks for reading and commenting!

  • Congratulations on restoring your foreskin! Enjoy it :)

I am uncircumcised and I'm happy about it. Enjoy all the benefits, that was unfortunately reaped from you earlier before. I believe you made the right choice and it makes me happy to see, that you are not one of those brainwashed fanatics, who try very hard to convince you otherwise with pseudo-arguments about why to get circumcised (looks better? better for the ladies? lesser infection risks? "cleaner" or less dirtier? - none of which ever made any sense to me. I'd even say that circumcision is more likely to cause the opposite of the provided above arguments)

    • I'd say uncircumcised looks better, is better for the ladies, and with proper hygiene the last three are irrelevant.

    • You know I always said "That's like saying not carrying a helmet decreases risks of accidents in constructions" in response to "circumcision decreases infection risks". You and I both know, that we cannot take these kinds of "people" (let's call them like that?) seriously. I agree, it actually looks natural and better having the foreskin. It's also said to be more pleasurable for the ladies as it acts like a cushion to mitigate the friction during coitus. Lesser risks for infections speaks for itself. It's not hard to clean either. In fact the foreskin keeps the glans moist. There are literally 10s of reasons to keep the foreskin. Because we were designed to be.

  • Here is a link to info about foresk restoration.

  • wow man, im glad you got it the way you wanted.

circumcision is just really unnecessary, unless for religious reasons.

    • Even then, a guy ought to be able to decide for himself if he wants it done for religion.

    • yeah but in religious families the boys have it done young, where they can't object much. plus they make it look like a ritual for becoming a man/part of the religious group which makes the kids think they have to
